Truly some of the best sushi in New York. Get the omakase and sit back and enjoy. But be warned this is a special occasion meal. If you indulge it may end up costing 4-5 hundred dollars!

Anya

I was hesitating, but decided to try their Omakase and it was great! Delicious and each piece was different.Just tell them in advance what fish you don't like and if you have any allergies.

Joan Park

Each sushi piece on the omakase menu has a unique twist and delicious. My fave was the snowcrab topped with uni. You start out wondering if you'll ever be full but we were satisfied after 9 pieces.

Jessey White-Cinis

As someone who grew up next to a sushi bar in LA and has been a connoisseur since 5, I can say that this is by-far the best sushi I've had in NYC. Sit at the bar and order omakase and a nice saké .

ZenFoodster

SKIP shabby decor, rude svc + dining in @ this Gari OG shop in UES. Instead, order $65 Gari Special - a mini-omakase w/ 8 of Gari’s star sushi pcs, Chopped Toro w/ Pickled Radish roll & Red Miso soup

Tim Luo

I had the snobby misconception that sushi should just be fish and sushi rice . gari smashed those expectations. I've never tasted toppings used in such a creative manner without diminishing the fish

Allison Esposito

Did you know? Sushi of Gari is one of the only restaurants in the US where you can try out the TOTO Washlet S350e toilet seat (a Japanese bidet). It's true luxury (for your butt).

Eater

The original location of Masatoshi “Gari” Sugio 's chainlet is still one of the best sushi restaurants in NYC. Start with an omakase tasting, finish with the tempura-fried ice cream . [Eater 38 Member]

When I arrive in Manhattan, I’m always looking to find that perfect late night (jet lagged) treat, this was absolutely the dream! Great flavours for a pretty penny, but absolutely worth it!

Nina LoSchiavo

You will not regret spending the pretty penny on their omakase . Uniquely prepared morsels of beauty.

Lindsay Brooke

Ask for the iPad to scroll through different sushi pieces . Stick to the sushi pieces if you are a real sushi lover. And get the spicy scallop roll or hand roll .

The best uni gunkan sushi in New York. Sea urchin is so fresh and sweet. Michelin starred sushi-ya.

First time having omakase so can't really compare it to anything else. The quail egg one was my favorite though, was a mouthgasmmm ????

Emily L

gotta try the omakase ! they excel in garnishing their sushi - pairing salmon & tomato , fluke & salsa , some white fish & salad , and more makes a tasty experience

Lash

Serious one of the best sushi places I've ever been to. Get the omakase - tell them what you don't eat and what you like!

Eliza K

Amazing! Chef 's choice was always delicious and creative. Make sure to get the salmon sushi with roasted tomato on top... I've never eaten sushi that melts in your mouth before and it was amazing

Sherry Li

One of my go to sushi spots . Omakase is very unique. Each piece comes with a special garnish or sauce that enhances the fish .

Aileen Chu

Best Gari out of the 3 locations. Ask for availability at the sushi bar when making a reservation . Order the omakase if it's your first time to find out which pieces are your favorites.

Luci

One of the best sushi places in town . Order Uni and the Gari's selection. Just love this place.

Tuna assortment was Amazing!! Tomato Salmon might be the best sushi I have ever had!!!

Leandro Lagera

My absolute favorite sushi place in NYC. The omakase is brilliant. Make sure you get 2 foie gras pieces.

Gene Soo

Delicious approach to fusion sushi . Go for the omakase . Tell then to stop when u are done. 10 pcs of sushi at around 75 dollars.

Frank Kim

The Omakase was terrific, 22 pieces of sushi in all, with a foie gras that just melts in your mouth in between, the only thing is that some of the pieces were just different versions of the same fish .

Lauren Rosenberg

You can order the special pieces a la carte. Love the salmon tomato and tuna tofu...but they are all delicious.

New York Habitat

An exquisite raw fish experience with uniquely crafted pieces. Try the tuna with tofu cream, flounder with lotus chip , and the foie gras sushi .

Tash Concepcion

Best sushi in all of NYC, hands down. The special salmon sushi piece with cooked tomato is an absolute must try.

Ivan Grechkivsky

Amazing sushi . And make sure to try the spicy scallop hand roll :)

Best sushi of my life. Get the omakase . Pricey but worth it.

Fan Loretta Bu

Very authentic sushi with modern twist of creative toppings. The salmon with warm steamed tomato is a life experience

Emily P. ????

Their fried oysters were good! Along with their sake marinated cod and chirashi ... Even their green tea ice cream tasted homemade ???????? ????

Stephanie Klein

Some judge a restaurant 's quality with the "napkin test," is it folded when you return from the loo? Is there ice in your water? Test sushi places on their spicy tuna roll . Sushi of Gari wins.

Sage Youngblood

Ordering omakase is another level of sushi/sashimi that everyone should experience. 5 rounds, each leaving you more excited for the next. Pictures just don't do it justice.

Mafe Sotillo Lairet

Absolutely amazing! The sushi was so fresh. I will definitely do the omakase next time

Adrian L

Best sushi I've ever had - do the omakase ! If it's available, get the fluke w/ egg and truffle oil . Just wild.

Steven Y

Fresh and creative omakase that's worth a try, but just know that for the price you pay, the ambiance is extremely casual and low key

DeShaun Harris

Omakase - the chef 's special - is the only way to go at this high-quality sushi spot . 3 rounds of 4 unique pieces each will definitely surprise and delight.

Tash Concepcion

The spicy scallop hand roll here is amazing. It contains mayo but it's divine. A must try.

Uni sushi costs normally around $9 a piece. Very fresh and flavorful.

Benjamin Coats

The omakase is not to be missed and the best sushi experience in the city .

Guaranteed one of the best meals of your life if you have the Omikase. Each piece melts in your mouth. Sushi heaven.
