If you have the money and love sushi , you def have to visit this place! You'll be surprised by the amazing omakase course they have ready for every customer who's down for the ride. The best in NYC
My favorite sushi spot in NYC, let alone the UES. The omakase will run you at least $100 per person, but it's worth it. Sign on wall reads: "No california roll , no spicy tuna . Trust me." Trust them.
Owner-chef Kenji Takahashi rolls out a no-nonsense, at-whim menu of top-tier seafood to rival more highfalutin Japanese dens, without the sucker-punch price. In Takashi we trust! Read more
Omakase was amazing but definitely pricey . Probably the best sushi I've ever had!
This place rivals the sushi at Sushi Dan in Tokyo's Tsukiji fish market . The price is $120 minimum per person. Worth every penny.
Be sure to get the chef 's omakase for a taste of everything, which is all super fresh. The highlights for us were the uni and blue crab .
Mostly excellent. Most of the time, the rice was warm (good) but at times it was too warm which drowned out the flavor (bad). Fish quality was excellent (esp. the toro and uni). I still prefer tanoshi
Sasabune is a great place for a business lunch . You’re in and out quickly and the food quality is tops. We loved the blue crab roll , cheers to sushi chef Kenji Takahashi one of the best in the city .
Great omakase ! I love the grilled butterfish , toro & of course UNI! The only thing I'd pass on is the abalone .
Don't be the poor soul (read: me) that puts soy sauce on a non soy sauce piece during the omakasa. Hell to pay. Even with the rules, this place is a must and possibly best sushi I've had in the city
This place is the real deal! I've been to all the best sushi places in the city and Sasabune holds its own. Don't be afraid of the omakase , "trust them!"
It is so good. Rivals LA sushi . Some of the best in NY. Prices reflect that though. Expect to pay 150-200 per person.
NY. Trust me this is the best sushi in NY. Hands down. You must get the omakase and trust the sushi chef . You won't regret it.
Unbelievable no-nonsense omakase . If you love sushi , you will not go wrong here. This place is worth traveling to.
UNREAL! You must do omakase ...butterfish and crab roll are especially amazing!
Sasabune serves rice like no other place; with varying temperatures and amounts of vinegar to bring out the nuances of each fish .
The absolute Best Sushi in New York City ...
Best sushi in the world
Amazing Omakase ! Trust the Sushi Chef ????
Was disappointed about the decor, place looks beaten up. (Especially the back room). Food was good as always. Byt paying the price that we did i wish they fixed the place up a bit
Favorite is the butterfish ! By the time I got to the blue crab hand roll at the end of the meal, I was almost too full to enjoy it. Pace yourself and enjoy!
Come here when you're feeling especially indecisive & adventurous - the chef chooses your entire meal from beginning to end. Trust him!
Japanese Omakase was very nice! (If you love shellfish ). Quite atmosphere. Loved it :)
Make a res for the sushi bar . It's the best seat in the house for the Omakase .
Best under the radar omakase in the city .
Tiny little place. Order the Omakase and prepare to be happy
Best sushi I have ever had! Just trust them.
Probably the best and most diverse sushi served in the city , features a chef 's choice menu....will cost you $200 for dinner for two.
OMAKASE ! Rivals the best (Gary) I've had in the city .
Good sushi , $$$, good service , not so cute inside though
The sushi is excellent; however Sushi Yasuda (43rd btw Second and Third) is still a cut above in terms of quality and decor.
Omakase is the way to go!
This place is the best in the city . Period. Simple ambiance and amazing food and service
Best sushi ever!
Ask for frozen toro ! Best thing on the menu :)
Pretentious very very very expensive place and I found it less good than an average good place w little choice. But perhaps I am a philistine judging by other tips.
Didn't find this place worth the price. Random food with mediocre taste that you can get anywhere else for half the price. Staff was odd and the decor was as if they garbage picked it.
Absolutely amazing
OMAKASE !!!! And listen when they say no soy sauce , seriously!
No ambiance but food is authentic .
Don't expect too much even though Sasabune is probably the best and most diverse sushi served in NYC. Been to great sushi places in Japan & Korea? Trust me. Not even close...
i trust whatever the chef gives me here to always blow me away.
Unimpressed by their Rice-too warm, mushy, vinegary & totally overpowered fish . Shoddy service & setting & pricier than most top NYC sushi places?! Ridiculously pricey 4 overall quality!
good food but service sucks.
Been here a few times but quality feels like it's really gone down while prices are up!
Always wanted to try this place. Rice is much warmer and softer than many places. Falls apart when using hands. Wasn't a fan.
Quality went downhill
They were probably great at some point but they are no special anymore. If they charge $35 fee for BYOB , I can only hope they go out of business soon.
Amazing SUSHI , Amazing OMAKASE, Amazing SAKE !
New in their Omakase rotation: fluke tempura with a tempura shiso leaf. Amazing! - Rosie M
Even the cheaper combination sushi for lunch is superb. Don't miss this place. - Augusto Lima
Tuna assortment was Amazing!! Tomato Salmon might be the best sushi I have ever had!!! - Jeff Tobias
Delish turkey sandwich with fresh roasted turkey great service at the bar reasonable prices - you can't lose!! - Samantha K
Huge candy selection, delish donuts and toffee. Will be back for some ice cream. - Russell Hirschorn
