There is a reason BLG has been voted Best Italian food in the Twin Cities with dishes like the 'Nduja Egg Raviolo. It grabs a hold of your taste buds and doesn't let go until every bit is gone. Read more

With a menu of antipasti , bruschetta , and pasta (in half or full portions ), Bar la Grassa offers top notch food in a more casual atmosphere with a lively crowd every night of the week.

Ben Thao

I had the raw tuna dish, the smoked spaghetti , and the carbonara . The dishes were great, but the reason it doesn’t get a 5 Star from me is the carbonara was lacking a good amount of seasoning. Cheers!

Lane Pelovsky

Get the Gnocchi with Cauliflower and Orange as well as the Mushroom and Taleggio Agnolotti . Both were incredible and melt in your mouth awesome. All the food here is extremely rich and flavorful!

Harper Wentz

Bar la Grassa is absolutely divine???? the pork bruschetta is delicious, it is so tender and its crispy ! Yummy! Also the mushroom tallegio agnolotti is my favorite! So good words can't describe❤️❤️

Ricel Almadovar

Pasta Negra with Sea Urchin Chili , Mussels and Tomato is out of this world. Same chef as 112 Eatery so that alone speaks about your foodscapade. Will go back for more, for sure!

City Pages

Bar La Grassa is a North Loop mainstay for good reason. They have the trifecta of fabulous handmade pasta , perfect negronis , and high standards of service that diners look for in an Italian restaurant .

April Denn

The gnocchi is a must have and their best selling dish! Also, the pasta negra , mushroom and taleggio agnolotti , cavatelli (w/rabbit!) and bisteca are amazing! One of the best restaurants in Mpls!

Marilyn Marthaler

Favorite thing is soft eggs and lobster bruschetta . The smoked spaghetti with lobster and the gnocchi with cauliflower and orange are wonderful. The dish with duck sugo..awesome! Desserts wonderful!

Arielle Lenox

Fantastic pasta - I recommend trying all the small plats and sharing so that you get to try all of them because they are ALL so good!

Cyril Bernier

More impressed by the antipasto and bruschetta than the main courses. The chicken liver mousse , the spiced carpaccio , soft eggs & lobsters , and the white anchovy & avocado are delicious.

Kasey Schindler

Soft eggs with lobster is a must. Pass on the pasta negra w/ mussels and sea urchin chili (even though the other reviews say so); it's pretty yet somewhat bland. Smoked black cod salad is solid too.

Meghan Kane

Gnocchi with orange and cauliflower was delicious - same with the marinated pork shoulder bruschetta . The pasta negro was a bit lackluster in comparison, though. Split a bottle of wine & you're set!

keeley patterson

Beats NYC. Must-eat: roasted shishito pepper with chocolate tapenade bruschetta , paccheri w/saffron milk braised chicken , gnocchi w/cauliflower & orange , saporosa vinegar linguine , red wine spaghetti !

Kristen A

The foie gras tortellini will change your life.

Michael Foehse

Start with some Bruschetta . I recommend the Spicy Carpaccio , or the Pork Shoulder . Entrees: the Crab Ravioli was excellent! my wife loved the Red Wine Spaghetti . Get creative and share! Enjoy!

Gabriel Goldstein

Everything here is great. You literally cannot go wrong. But if there was only one thing in this city that I could only eat for the rest of my life, it would be the ricotta they make here.

Ben Gutnik

Best italian in Minneapolis hands down. Awesome atmosphere and building. Great wine list . Try their Rabbit Capatini.

Amy Park

MUST get the foie gras tortellini and the ribs . You will not regret it.

City Pages

The menu looks like an Italian version of a Spanish tapas bar, including raw halibut antipasti , burrata bruschetta , and nearly two dozen fresh and dried pastas . Read more

Our server Chris was awesome!! Recommended good drinks, food and a great dessert ! Food was amazing and the salted caramel dessert I could eat every day!!!! Definitely coming back!!

Ben Teich

Don't wait until the last minute to make a reservation because the place is always filled, even during the week. And you must get the orange and cauliflower gnocchi !

In the top 5 restaurants in the state , everything we tried was first class . Dinner for two was $40 plus drinks, so it's pretty affordable considering how amazing the food + atmosphere is.

Sean Scott

Gnocchi is all I have to say. I am@not a huge pasta fan but this was an experience that left me saying wow

Arielle Lenox

Fantastic pasta - I recommend trying all the small plates and sharing so that you get to try all of them because they are ALL so good!

Nancy McIntire

Alfredo carbonara - so memorable. 4 of us have been there repeatedly, always get something different- and the choices are always spectacular. Save room for dessert .

Heavy Table

Try the Calamarata with Raw Tuna : brightly spiced, al dente squid-shaped rings of pasta and huge, tender chunks of tuna conjure up a setting far from the landlocked tundra. Read more

Stacey Poston

tuna , tuna , tuna . oh, and the beet salad . sit at the pasta counter and watch the delicious food come out of the kitchen. chocolate ice cream sandwiches with creme anglaise for dessert .

Nicholas Kolnik

When the Thai panna cotta is on the dessert menu , save room.

Harper Wentz

Their crab ravioli is just light enough, but with it's perfectly moist, delicate, light, perfectly cooked crab in a tomato cream sauce is so amazing????❤️

Shawn

What isn't good here? That's usually what I say to people who ask me about BLG. High end cuisine without haughtiness bring BLG into an echelon all of its own.

Lindsey Moss

One of the best dining experiences in Minneapolis. Lobster bruschetta is a must for all diners! Anything you order will be delicious.

Lindsi Gish

Soft egg and lobster (also referred to as lobster egg bruschetta ). You don't need to know anything else. Go forth and enjoy.

Jeremiah G.

All of the pasta is made in house, even the dry pasta . It's delicious, and the bruschetta is amazing. All of it.

John Zanini

Amazing food and atmosphere. You must try the Orange Cauliflower Gnocchi and you can not go wrong on any of the Bruschetta .

Antone Hammers

As everyone else said, lobster egg bruchetta is awesome. So is the gnocci . Chicken was beautiful as well . Insalata and veal ragu were honoroble mentions from our night. Great place. Eat here.

Lori Erickson

Best Italian restaurant in Minneapolis hands down. I said hands down!!

Daniel Hoeffel

The Spiced Carpaccio , Gnocchi and the Squid Ink Pasta are a must.

alba

Get the Soft Eggs & Lobster Bruschetta , you won't regret.

Daniel Wilson

Contender for best overall restaurant experience. Love this place. Do lots of half size pasta dishes.

Nicholas Kolnik

The fois gras tortellini is chill-inducing.

City Pages

Voted #1 Italian restaurant by City Pages! No matter how hip and bespectacled the faces are in Bar La Grassa's always-busy waiting area, the cuisine is a favorite of carb lovers!

Drew G.

Truly, the soft eggs and lobster bruschetta is amazing. Order it with confidence and prepare to enjoy. Also, try any of the fresh pastas . You won't be disappointed.

alba

Soft Eggs & Lobster Bruschetta , crab toast , cauliflower , all of the pastas

Niji J.

Everything was overly rich and heavy (and I’m vegetarian )

Antone Hammers

As said: Lobster/Egg Bruchetta is amazing. Gnocci w/ Culiflower is amazing. Veal Ragu gets honorable mention. Crispy Insalate nothing special. Bread needs work. You should eat here, loved it!

Jason Cole

Hard to go wrong with anything on the menu, but the Gnocchi would hold its own anywhere on earth.

City Pages

Bar La Grassa was voted as Best Italian Restaurant by City Pages in 2010! Take your big-city guests here to convince them that not everyone in Minnesota could have been cast as an extra in Fargo.
