One of the must see in Melbourne - I love the mix of paintings , photography , design furnitures and sound systems . You got all your senses engaged. The building itself is already a reason to see it.
Good collection of national artists on lower floors, though I preferred the modern works on the upper floors. Impressive building architecture too —modern yet not overwhelming.
The Great Exibition by Patrick Pound was actually more than great. Some navigation guides within the gallery , especially for the 2nd floor, will make the experience much more pleasant.
Don't skip the Joseph Brown Collection on Level 2. Filled with beautiful Australian Art - great to see John Brack, Sidney Nolan , Fred Williams, Rupert Bunny, Margaret Preston, E.Phillips Fox etc..
Admire the works of Frederick McCubbin, Sidney Nolan , Tom Roberts and Albert Tucker at the Ian Potter Centre, which is open and free to the public everyday until 5pm
The home of the NGV's Australian art collection . Enjoy yourself a Boyd, Drysdale, Russell and perhaps some Shearing of the Rams
Has a few iconic Australian pieces but enjoyed the other modern exhibits much more.
