Incredible contemporary art collection that's on par with those in New York, London, & Berlin. A lot of installation/video pieces. Their store is easily one of the best museum stores I've been to.
Third Thursdays were voted "Best Place for a First Date" by City Pages in 2012! Filled with activities to keep the conversation rolling, this event si sure to lessen the likelihood of awkward moments
Found free parking across Hennepin near Loring Park and had a great time at the Sculpture Garden . What a great location and an asset to the city provided for free to the public.
Talk to the workers who stand in the gallery day in and day out. Not only will it make their day but they may also have some interesting things to point out about the particular exhibit .
Nothing worth seeing inside. Incredibly dull exhibitions and while visiting from South Africa in the middle of summer more than half of the museum was closed for new installations.
Interesting unique displays. Something for everyone. Only need an hour. Restaurant has excellent selection of hot & cold drinks and cocktails .
My #1 place to be in minneapolis. First rate exhibitions . A reciprocal membership gets you free access to hundreds of museums .... Call it a Warhol cuz the gift shop is bananas !
Exhibits contemplating edicts of Lenin’s and Cuba’s politburo, Cuban communist dictator smiles in the posters. It feels like visiting Belarus or North Korea.
there are lockers for rent for 25¢ downstairs by the restrooms and in the corridor to the parking garage
Admission free 1st Sat of ea mo. Families can enjoy live performances , films , gallery , & hands-on art-making. Activities recommended for ages 6-12. INFO: http://www.walkerart.org/free-first-saturdays
Truly a gem. Worth visiting just for the architecture , but the art is amazing as well .
Shut off your phone & take your time to engulf yourself in the art at the Walker. I spent 4 hours one day and it felt like 45 minutes. It's also a perfect way to spend a 1st date.
Art lab is a lot of fun!
We went to the Gather Cafe at the Walker for lunch and had great salads that were well priced. The Walker's collection is excellent.
Check the schedule for free gallery days . The sculpture garden is always free
absolutely incredible exhibitions , architecture , and grounds.
Usually a great collection of contemporary and modern art , however served with a highbrow, snarky attitude that generally puts me off.
Make sure you take one of the tours included with admission. It's free, and makes for an enriching visit.
Love to come here for films , exhibits , the garden and even the gift shop !
Excellent exhibits , but make sure to check out the turrell skyspace outside in the garden !
Beautiful museum and sculpture garden .
Don't stand too close to the exhibit with potatoes and diet coke cans glued to the used diaper. Some hipster girl with a half shaved head will scold you. They are trying to preserve the poop smears.
Must see if you're an Art lover. Located right next to the Minneapolis sculpture gardens .
Great views of the #CityByNature from the private rooms! Hold an event here & knock people's socks off!
Out There theater festival back for it's 26th year at the Walker! Come check out the 4 separate works that have been prepared for your enjoyment, from January 9th to February 1st. Read more
Many nice Minnesotans will offer to take your photo in the sculpture garden .
On Target Free Thursday , come early and grab some food and drinks at Esker Grove (or go after you see the art ).
First Saturdays of the month are free! Great collection and curation
The view of the city and the garden
Worth a membership. Fun exhibits and activities. Nice cafe .
If you like modern art this is the place to go in the twin cities .
Some of the best visiting exhibits in town . My fav was the John Water 's curated show.
Sculpture garden is a must see for out of town guests
Its a really posh location for an event .
I could walk around here for days and not see everything. Becoming a member has some real advantages.
Voted Best Museum by City Pages Best of 2014!
Target Free Thursdays ! Gather is open, you can't have a better evening.
Wigbar If you're in the area, check out our work included in artist Lorna Simpson's exhibit "Recollection: Lorna Simpson" at Walker Art Center in Minneapolis . Read more
Loved the cherry ???? and the art itself
Wind chime gardens are beautiful on a windy day
Go on a Thursday, you get free admission !
The people watching is more entertaining than the art itself
The Baby Marx exhibit is a great mix of puppeteering and ideology. Catch it while you can.
Any place that has John Waters as an art " curator" is a great place to be.
A very interesting place to behold.
Must check out the sculpture garden and free art nights (make a donation, though!).
Ugh. Herzog & de Meuron can do no wrong. Oh, the art inside the building ain't shabby either.
Nice collection of contemporary art .
Lots of thought-provoking exhibits . Not the best for kids.
Mini golf here is a must!
