Fountain of the Four Rivers is a fountain Parione Rome located in Italy.
Piazza Navona 00186 Rome Latium Italy
I visited this place in the evening. It was breathtaking-night sky, lights everywhere and spectacular view . Probably one of my favorite places in Rome
This is a Bernini masterpiece — and easily the best fountain in Rome if not for that Trevi guy, chalk full of people just a short walk to the east.
Absolutely stunning.. It is also very energetic in the night and the water is lit up and glowing very beautiful less heat fewer people.
Designed in 1651 by Bernini for Innocent X. It represents four major rivers of the four continents through which papal authority had spread: the Nile, the Danube, the Ganges and the Río de la Plata
Stunning statues and a great spot to chill out during night time. Street artist performances and people watching . ????
One of my favourite sculptures in my favourite piazza navona! Definately a must see landmark . Do not forget to take a photo!
It's supposed that River Plate's statue uprise his harm in fear that the church of will collapse but's its just a legend: Bernini finished the fountain before Borromini started to work to the church .
Rumor says that the statue of the Nil was hiding his face so it won't see the church made by Borromini (the enemy of Bernini : check others advice to know who is Bernini )
Awesome little area for people watching do be careful of pickpockets in the area though. A friend of mine almost got pickpocketed when an old gypsy flashed him.
architecture and monuments ???????? very lively and open, lots of tourists and street performers
This is Río de la Plata and represents America
Bernini 's sculptures are so impressive but mostly I interested their story. The story about some thoughts such as beauty-worse things.
This statue represents Europe .
Beautiful fountains and really impressive. Try to visit early in the morning so you can enjoy it when there is less people
Very beautiful! Just sit at a restaurant or bar and enjoy the atmosphere.
Quite awesome fountain . Right in middle of the Piazza Navona. Spend some time here to soak in the lively atmosphere .
Represents four major rivers of the four continents: the Nile representing Africa, the Danube representing Europe , the Ganges representing Asia, and the Río de la Plata representing America .
The obelisk , called Agonale after the stadion, is a Roman copy commissioned by Domitian, moved by Maxentius to his Circus . Erected on top of the Fontana dei 4 Fiumi by Bernini in 1651 for Innocent X.
Even though it's hard to see the fountain up close with the crowds that form around it, it's worth it to linger here.
The most prominent monument in Piazza Navona, for its beauty and the obelisk in the middle.
It was built by Gian Lorenzo Bernini , the man who, in the mid-1600s, remade Rome in the Baroque style.
This statue represents the Nile and Africa
Beautiful fountain . Great place for people watching .
I like this fountain and the piazza around
Amazing place at night and during the day
This statue represent the Ganges and Asia
Perfect art , he really deserved the prize.
Beautiful fountain , read the story of it http://slowitaly.yourguidetoitaly.com/2012/01/the-four-river-gods-of-piazza-navona/
This fountain is also the one where Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) saves the last preferitti in the movie Angels and Deamons.
The absolute epiphany is the concept of this fountain . Read the story of it.
Excellent place for people watching !
One of Bernini 's amazing works!
In the movie "Illuminati" Tom Hank saved the life of the Cardinal "Baggia".
Four rivers by Bernini should be in any touristic plan for Rome discovery.
One of many fountains in Rome. Unique and beautiful.
Piazza navona is lovely! Very nice vibe. Buzzy...
When Bernini created this fountain Nile's sources were unknown: that's why Nile's statue is veiled.
Excellence place for relaxing
One of the most impressive things to see in Rome.
At true masterpiece by the great Bernini
Really beautiful fountains with interesting statues
Great place with another Egyptian obelisk on the top
Iconic and crowded !
My favourite fountain in all of Rome :)
