I always get the house chicken , bok choy , and a duck congee . Service is absolutely terrible, but the food is unrealistically cheap and delicious, been one of my favorite places to go for 12 years.
Congee village saved my relationship
Amazing Chinese food . You find better anywhere in the city , perfect for a group and when the bill comes, you’ll be blown away at how cheap it is. Been coming here for years, we love it!!!
Old school, elaborately decorated Chinese resto with an extensive menu and delicious congee . My first time. Awesome on a cold day
My family and relatives used to come here a lot due to how great and authentic their Cantonese cuisine is compared to others in Chinatown. They have private rooms too for large parties.
Great price for some of the best congee I’ve ever had
For the perfect hangover cure , head to Congee Village to drink a pot of tea with an order of Pan Fried Dry Shrimp Noodles and Pork , Chicken , and Duck Congee . Read all about it on WinstonWanders below! Read more
This is one of those places where you know you're in the right place when you see the other dining clientele. The house special chicken is the fish to get.
The congee is served bubbling hot in a terracotta casserole , steaming with the aroma of whatever's added on top. It's hearty, soothing, and everything you want in the late night hours.
Funny they take reservations , but still requires a 30min to 1hr and a half of wait time ???? RIDIC!! Love this unsanitary place.. But I'm fkn starving, seat us already! It's 40 mins past time guys
Phenomenal - wow. Sliced pork and preserved egg congee , crab congee , sha cha beef , deep friend intestines, sauteed jumbo shrimp - cannot go wrong with these. Looking forward to my next visit already.
Open late , the congee was very nice, as was the house chicken . However the tofu and vegetables felt inauthentic Chinese. The price felt a bit on the high side for comparable Chinese
Congee Village serves more than congee , although it does its namesake very well . You'll also find generous plates of chow fun , rice , dumpings , and more. Perfect for a late night bite.
As a guy who thinks most Chinese restaurants only care about money over quality, this place was amazing. Probably my fave in the US so far. Definitely get the Singaporean Noodles . So good.
Meant to be experienced with great friends! The Shanghai noodles , spicy chicken in sauce and fermented black bean oysters were the bomb!
Delicious congee at an affordable price . Go with a group of friends to try out multiple flavored. Chicken , pork , and duck is by far my fav!
Totally divey place and the service isn't so great. But, oh the food is that good!!! I always get the house special chicken and snow pea leaves...always!
Any congee plus Ginseng chicken soup ! Can't go wrong with that on a cold winter night.
One of the more unique Chinese menus we've come across. For the less adventurous eaters, a safe bet is the house special garlic chicken .
Congee is delicious and is served with so many different foods you will want to keep coming back to try them all – or almost all if frog and snails are not your thing! Read more
Always good. Favorites are house special chicken , roast duck meatball porridge , salt and pepper squid , Chinese greens. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Perfect place for groups. (Cold) chicken feet are tasty for American palate. Short ribs were amazing and loved the frog leg congee , fried rice , sesame chicken , giant clam (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
The pork and preserved egg congee + you tiao is amazing! Authentic Chinese food for cheap prices!
Adventurous eaters will be happy to find snails, frog, duck’s blood, and goose intestine on the vast menu. - Inspector
Great scallion pancakes , sesame chicken and pan fried shrimps . The seafood lo mein and vegetable rice were so-so.
Give the sampan congee a try, it's my favorite here :)
YOUTIAO IS NOT ON THE MENU . But you can/should definitely still order it. You won’t regret it.
Everything was great, specially the rice cooked in the bamboo ???? with the mushrooms ????
the sliced pork and preserved egg congee is one of the most soothing dishes, paired with beer and tea , feels like heaven.
Authentic Asian food ! Love it. Great service
Oh my god, get the house special chicken .
Seriously order anything. Cheapest cocktails I've seen in Manhattan (and tip-free, to boot, yo).
Recommended Dishes: Salt & Pepper Squid , Razor Clams , Flounder in Two Styles, Pan Fried Tofu , Peking Porkchops , & Fuzhou Fried Rice .
Tough call. You have to put up with a crappy service in order to get awesome Food. Also lots of patience required. Try any of the congees , think of rice oatmeal with seafood or meat.
Get the House Special Chicken unless you are feeling adventurous in which case there are more than enough interesting menu items to satisfy your curiosity.
Crazy options for adventurous people, but regular yummy and cheap Chinese fare as well . Chinese broccoli , house chicken ????
Buddha's Vegetables will satisfy vegetarians and carnivores alike. The fish congee with scallions and ginger rocked too.
Garlic chicken , fried squid , Chinese broccoli , seafood crispy noodles , pan fried flounder , yang chow fried rice . ALL were amazing!
Always crowded . I enjoy the duck congee and seafood congee .
Lychee martinis for 6 bucks! Seafood congee and juicy buns are a must. Get fried bread for dessert you won't be disappointed.
The congee dishes are bigger than their low prices suggest and quite delicious. The rest of the choices I tried were only so-so unfortunately, and pricy compared to much of Chinatown.
This place is inexpensive and comes with big portions , but if you don't know what to order you will not be very satisfied.
Best to go after 11:30pm and order all the fried foods. Fried salt and pepper squid , general Tso's chicken , fried bread w/ condensed milk
Lovely corn soup . Get the large size for everyobe. Try the chicken with shitake mushrooms and anything with duck and fried rice , not oily.
Wow dawgs line here is so long you can make 2 separate trips to prosperity dumplings during the wait
Best hot+sour soup and clams with black bean sauce I've had in a long time!
Veg congee , flecked with ginger and scallions , is lovely. First visit (with kids) so picked conservatively - house special chicken and short ribs . Former was outstanding :)
Congee is ok...14 of us at one table, came out to about $35pp with like 12 dishes. Everything is decent, nothing stood out for me
Great food. Very authentic . Try the house special chicken , it's delicious. Half portion is huge
House special chicken was moist with a strong garlic flavor! Definite must try.
Their beef brisket noodle soup (with lai fun) is BANGIN'!!!!! Their wontons, potstickers, and xiaolongbao are always good! - Fiona
Awesome spot for a late night meal. Their crispy pork is on point! - Carly Chan Liu
What I miss when I'm away from NYC for awhile: minced beef congee, beef rice noodles, rice noodle wrapped fried cruellers & the ox-tongue pastry (it's like a Chinese donut!) Yum! - Nina C
Sesame matcha swirl is my favorite but the ube is fun too! - Laura Chin
Might be the best ice cream in NY! Come back often as the flavors change every few days! - Marcel
