Fort Funston is a park Lakeshore San Francisco located in United States.
500 Skyline Blvd (at John Muir Dr) San Francisco , CA 94132 United States
One of my favorite places in San Francisco. Beautiful views , little trails to explore and super dog friendly .
Great views on the coast from high up but you can access the beach by a steep walk down some stairs. The main attraction is all the DOGS! Also cool to see hang gliders .
Why are dogs so lucky? They get one of the most beautiful trails to walk, overlooking the Pacific Ocean on one side and the skyline of SF including Golden Gate Bridge and Twin Peaks.
Best dog park in the Bay , if not all of California. Dogs rule the beach , hang gliders rule the air, with hiking fun amongst the old gun emplacements on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific.
Loveeee ???? this place beautiful park leads to a beach we’re dogs are running free of leash , as happy as they can be down to the beach . People are enjoying the beach and sun . walk to the beach good
Great place for a walk with the kids but beware Fort Funston is a dog-first space with tons of off leash , four-legged friends
One of the coolest tucked away dog parks in SF. Free, dogs run run off leash and breathtaking views of the Pacific. What more could you ask for? Definitely making this a regular spot.
Sand dunes , surf , hang gliders , views up the coast to the golden gate and down toward Pacifica. This is a San Francisco secret.
Our dog loved running around the hills of the sand dunes ! People and their dogs are so nice here. definitely treat your pup and bring them here
Always an amazingly fun doggie time!
Love love love Fort Funston. So much open space for dogs to run around crazily. Yes it's windy but sooooo much spaceeeee!!!
Beautiful sweeping views of the California coast and very popular with dogs as well
Great place to let the dogs roam free. Currently undergoing improvements on the trails . Beach access climb back up is killer ????
SO MANY DOGS! Maybe you'll catch the hang-gliders. There are also cool old bunkers and the parking lot is an old Nike missile site.
This place is a ton of fun. That's why it's called Fort Fun's-ton.
If you want to enjoy a view of the ocean, first check the weather report for fog, especially during the summer. Hey, it's San Francisco!
Doggie Disneyland!!!! Bring your pup here and he/she will be the happiest dog on earth!
Bring your pups for a beautiful sunset walk
Dogs. Dogs. Dogs. Beautiful views with large beach but don't come if you don't like dogs!
Dogs and their owners can easily spend hours here running up and down the trails & beach . Wearing rubber boots will keep your toes dry and don't forget to pick-up your pooch's poop.
They have a website where they show webcams and weather condition. Good way to know if it's windy, foggy or if you just want to see if it is crowded here. Just google "fort funston webcam".
Great place to watch sunsets as California burns.
Amazing sunsets with rare dolphin sights and paragliding
Great trails ! Watch out for animal fecal matter! Especially the horse poop! Great scenery! Love this place;
Get to the beach and head south... always fewer people
We take our dogs to Fort Funston to walk without having to deal with the leash . They just love running around in the spectacular surroundings on the coast, playing with other dogs. Their true personal
Like hearing ocean tides and walking the dog? You came to the right spot.
This place is beautiful. Take your dog here and let him run free while you take a nice walk along the coast.
Easily one of the best places to take the dog in SF, and get a workout yourself. Most people pick up their dogs turds here, except me, i never do, thats totally disgusting...(just being real)
Don't wear shoes or pants you care about. You will get swept up in the tide. Ps doggies!!!!
Prepare for a sandy walk that your dog will love... It's a steep climb up/down to beach but worth it.
Nice place to take a stroll down on the beach as well hang gliding “
You can check a live picture taken every 5 minutes during daylight hours, the current temperature, and the times of the low/high tides at the following website: <aclass="entity url"rel="nofollow" href="http://www.thefyigroup.com/ff"target="_blank" data-sig="GNHphc78WGSR26OfNa4f904oA+Q=" onmousedown="fourSq.ui.OutgoingLink.mousedown($(this), event)" data-source="tip-text">http://www.thefyigroup.com/ff</a> Read more
Amazing for sunset .
Go down to the beach going southbound. So much better than the sketchy Battery Park area. Owners there are craycray!!!
This is heaven for dogs, but pick a nice day. Breezy brings out the hang gliders . Windy will whip sand in your eyes. Read more
Great place for a good walk and for off leash ..
Beautiful off leash dog bark one of the best in the country !
Fantastic workout for us and our puppy! After spending a few hours there and then coming home giving him a bath.... he is now out like a light! :-)
Love bringing my dog here! All the dogs are free to run around.. Doggie heaven !
What a great place to enjoy on a sunny day. Try to go down to the beach
Take your dog and enjoy life. Maybe learn a little from them.
Awesome warning signs.
Make sure to always bring a jacket ! And looks like Sunday afternoons are the cracking' days.
Beach dogs sun surf . What's not too like?
Dog heaven ! (The good kind, not the sad kind)
The stairs are treacherous, but it's dogs paradise.
I love to see all the different breeds of dogs walking off leash .. gorgeous views too.
Walk through the eucalyptus tree groves. Keep walking down the main path, towards Ocean Beach . At the end of the path, turn right off pavement, back towards the parking lot .
So I have these two goldens, and I love Fort Funston because you can let your dogs roam off leash over acres of headlands and even go down to the beach . Everyone takes their dog
