Clingmans Dome is a scenic lookout Bryson City located in United States.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park Bryson City , NC 28713 United States
Sounds easy but it is .5 miles at a 27 degree incline up nonstop but worth the walk at the end. Parking is a little nerve racking there is a small park store and rocks to climb at the bottom Beautiful
Stunning view . Check weather before going. The earlier in the AM the better. Warning: you'll be walking a steep incline for .5 mi. to get to C.Dome. There is no leveled area. Need sturdy shoes & h2o.
Wide and paved path, but a bit steep for those who aren't in the best shape and a nice lung workout for those who are!!! Beautiful view at the top!!
Short hike but like everyone has said it is fairly steep. Don’t be embarrassed to stop and rest. You certainly will not be the only one doing it. Coming down is much easier of course. High point #16!
A short paved walk, though steep, leads to some amazing views from the tower of the surrounding mountains !
Smooth, paved trail , but quite a hike given the rise in elevation & distance in the thinner air of 6,000+ feet. At least some benches along the way. Very windy at top & often socked-in with clouds.
Did the hike in the dark. Go on a clear night to see a day full of stars. Trust me it's so worth it. Wear hiking shoes for sure. It is steep.
Wear layers. You will get warm walking there but it can be very cold at the top. And if at all possible you should be there for sunset . It is an amazing experience. And wear comfy shoes .
Walk is fairly short but quite steep. Round trip took my 26 minutes but apparently this may be longer for others. Beautiful scenery if you don't mind doing tiny bit of work!
Been going here since I was a kid, always worth the drive! Absolutely beautiful! Not to be missed!
The half mile hike to the tower is definitely worth it on a clear day , but skip it on a cloudy/hazy day. The view from the parking area is worth the drive.
If you’re near here, it’s a must see for beauty.
Out of this World Views , don;t forget your camera .
Went here after major October snow (Storm Sandy). Hiked in about 2 ft of snow all the way to the dome. It's rare that this happens since they close on December to March. Really nice!
Seriously crazy hike !! Was disappointed the overlook is closed til April 2018...but there’s still plenty of good spots to view the sunset .
A hike FOR SURE!! Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes OR flip flops! Worth the trek up hill though….
Foggy day for me, but still worth it, bring a sweater, hiking/walking shoes , and water. 12% on the 1/2mile climb up.
Best place to catch the sunset .
It is beautiful, but if you have the physical stamina to hike non-paved trails , I’d spend your time doing that instead.
Grab a bottle of water before you make the climb . It might be half a mile, but you're going to work for it!
The hike downhill is almost as challenging as the hike up because it's so steep!
You definitely want to make the steep trek to the top! Viewing area!
Just do it. Take your time. Stop as much as you need to.
Scenic . Take the trails for great sights.
A bit of an incline but worth the view .
Remain in the valley of the Little River for a lovely watershed walk, to spend your second night beneath Clingmans Dome at Three Forks. Read more
Best views from the parking lot
Not a fan of crowds? Take the Clingmans dome bypass via the Appalachian trial back!
Be there before sunrise and watch the world wake up before your very eyes.
It's quite a hike up the hill so wear good shoes .
climb the rocks in the front and take a pic, the view is amazing!
Recommend this to everyone! I go everytime I'm in the Smokeys!
Green trees and white clouds, that’s what you will see
One of the best views !!
Beautiful view
Wear very comfortable shoes . Do not attempt this climb if you have bad knees, bad ankles or any reason long step inclines could hurt you.
Go at sunset . Bring warm clothing .
A nice overlooking sport
Great place to hike
Great view when it clear
Gorgeous View on beautiful day!
Don't give up, you can make it to the top
Wear shoes you can hike in and bring a camera ! :)
Nice view when it's clear
High point number 15!
Your calves will be sore! Great view ! Bring your own water.
warm ur self up .. the temperature there drops at least 30 F degrees
Great views !
Nice view of the Smokeys
What a lovely view ! Watch out for the bears ...
I’m in love with the “smokies” ???? get a cabinet far away in the mountains , fresh air ???? just be ready to enjoy the wild life ???? - Manar ALzamil
Great place to stop before entering the mountains. They have a ton of information about the park and a small gifts shop with really neat souvenirs. Also, the huge map of the mountains is awesome. - Collin Messer
Beautiful scenery, and the path itself is moderate in difficulty. They close the path from motorists on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7am-11am, so only cyclists & walkers can pass through. It's great! - Valerie Leek
Lovely spot for a day hike along the AT. Lots of hills. - Jon Pressman
Excellent hike in the Smoky Mountains. Muddy and a challenge getting up and down the trails, but worth the effort of the trip! Check the visitor center for the schedule of reconstruction of the trail. - Debbie W
Love this place... The hike to Grotto Falls was nice... Just make sure you wear some good hiking shoes. The trail has running water on it slippery rocks along with lots of tree roots. - Edward C
Beautiful colors on display. It was a Monday and 22 different states were counted on license plates at Clingmans Dome. Crazy busy but still worth it. - Jon Pereira
Amazing, scenic and breath taking beauty. Rent car and drive around. There is so much to see and outdoor activities: zip lining, rafting, horseback riding, ski lifts, trams, free trolley, etc. - Sara
