Historical palace in the heart of Munich . Well you need to be there when visiting Munich but be aware that due the bunch of tourists it's crowded all days long.
Big plaza with plenty of people, great atmosphere and various historical buildings and interesting shops. It is the main plaza since 12th century.
Don’t do lunch or dinner on the square, walk a bit down any street and the prices literally are halved.
If you wish to go for a walk, look up shops, and some cafe 's. Then this is the place to go. You will also find lot of shops serving food (pre Christmas time )

Love walking around the square early in the morning or late evening when the massive crowds have dispersed. Tourist information office in the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall )
Best views of the old and new Rathauses . Lots of cafés and shops on the square. Christmas Market in the square from mid November.
Come at 11am to watch the tower show. Stand the opposite side for a good view . Advent market crowded but fun.
Climb the St Peter's Church Tower and see the Marienplatz from from a birds view . It's more steps than you think. People coming down the steps will be laughing at you from the expression on your face!

The city hall is amazing to see and take a pic but the dancing toys are a little disappointing but it´s great to stay there and eat a german hot dog or drink a cold beer .
It's also worth a visit when the Christmas marked opens! Go at around 5pm, there is an orchestra playing Christmas songs. Really beautiful!

The Altes Rathhaus is the most beautiful gothic building I've ever seen. Marienplatz is the best place to start your journey through Munich

Try to be on top of the st. Peter's cathedral at 12 noon for a good view of the glockenspiel ..will cost u 1.5 euros per person (1 Euro for students)
