Fort Mose Historic State Park
Fort Mose Historic State Park is the site of the first legally sanctioned free African settlement in what is now the United States. Although there are no remains of the fort, visitors can learn more about the settlement in the park’s museum and explore the park grounds.

Ft. Mose is considered a precursor to the Underground Railroad . The Spanish offered slaves freedom in exchange for declaring allegiance to the King/Catholic Church . Watch this video for more info. Read more
Saratoga Blvd. is now Fort Mose Trail . We are in between the St. Johns County Court House and Schooners Seafood Restaurant right off of US 1 North.
