A monument not only of stone and mortar but of human determination and endurance, the Castillo de San Marcos symbolizes the clash between cultures which ultimately resulted in our uniquely unified nation.

Great time to go here early so there would be less people. Gets crowded towards late afternoon. Would love to go back here everytime I visit St. Augustine. You could spend an hour or so.
A must see for any history buff and Florida resident. Coquina and roman arch rooms keep cool in the summer time, so keep that in mind on a July day. Admission is $7 and good for four days.
This Spanish fort was built in 1672 and staff in period uniforms fire off cannons most weekends. Kids can look out over the bay and pretend to be sentries spotting pirate ships.
Very interesting! Did not know it's the oldest city by European settlers. Much older than Mayflower & Virginia Colony! Very well kept with great explanations by guides. MUST SEE!
Checked the website and said it would be open. We took a 3hr road trip to discover it was closed. The place is still worth seeing and the town made it worth it. Lots of things to do! I loved it!
Have a stop to learn a bit of Spanish colonization. It's children friendly :) Very early in the morning or later in the night to scape from the hot weather and get some beautiful pictures.
Cannons shot every day at 11:30...see it from the sun deck. Amazing experience and wonderful views . The National Park staff are so wonderful at teaching the kids!
Get up early and enjoy breathtaking views of the sunrise #viajasanagustin @viajasanagustin #gubraodtrip #lovefl #travelblogger #travel #travelwithkids
One of the best forts I have visited in the US. Intriguing history and well maintained. Active military free entry.
This is Great! Though if your age is below 13 or your kids ages are below 13 then I don't think they would enjoy it as much because it could be "boring". It is very historic and beautiful.
Joe Brehm gave a tour of the Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States , and talked about its history. Watch this video for more info. Read more
Nice castle , worth seeing the cannon and bayonet demonstration
Wonderful historic place. Very informative and good for everyone to learn history. Kid and military are free to enter
Probably be my #1 attraction in St Augustine. Very easy to imagine the way it was back in the day when on the roof looking over the water.

Been here many times. Great place to visit. Military gets in FREE with 3 guests
Really cool place to hang out at night when the inside is closed. You get a great night time view of the old town .
The center piece of St. Augustine History...this is a must see on the tour schedule.
You have to see the cannon firing to get the full experience.. Also crawl in the little passage way to feel what is as eerie as you seen on tv . Www.TonyBatman.com
Where else in Florida or the U.S. for that matter can you view and touch history that has been around for over 600 year? Simply a must do.
Touristy place but worth a check out. Cannon demonstration is neat, but like most tourist spots it can get very crowded ! Lots of interesting stuff to learn and see.
Amazing place. They have a live canon demostration and you get to walk around the oldest structure built in the US. A must see! Highly recommended!!!
Long line to get in but worth it great views of the area from the battlements.
A must see historic location. A fort thats 100 years older than America! Oldest masonary fort in the U.S. Beautiful location as well .
It's hot but we'll worth the historical significance. $10 admission -less than most movie tickets
Here on a rainy day an the deck was open. Very cool piece of history. A must see. Check out the cannon presentation.
How did I not know there used to be colonies called East and West Florida??? Even just an hour here gives you a good feel for just how much the state has changed in 400 short years.

One of my favorite places to learn about Saint Augustine and a lovely tourist attraction .
Active duty military and dependents not only get in free, but get a yearlong free pass to all national parks , and can bring 3 free guests!
Fantastic historical monument . Be sure to stay for the cannon or rifle demonstrations.
Great for first timers to St. Augustine looking for that perfect combination of boredom, sweat and Native American intolerance.
7 days ticket! Lots of history boards and stunning views
We come out here on the sea wall every year on the night of Thanksgiving. Usually here by midnight. Come out and have a drink with us!
Interesting history. Stay for the cannon firing .
Our favourite hangout spot in the city . Just love this cute little town
Interesting place if you like history (Spain - British - United States )
Nice Fort. It's a bit small but fun to walk around.

It’s a nice town to stroll around
When you go to the top, there's an awesome view of the ocean.
Go before sundown so you can take nice pictures. There is not enough light at night.
Must see. Seen forts all around the world but this one is ours.
Don't miss the cannon exercise reinactment. Beautiful day to tour .
Great piece of history with a nice waterfront view
The fort is interesting as there’s a wall with bullet holes from executions.
