Alabaster Bookshop is a bookstore Greenwich Village New York located in United States.
122 4th Ave (btwn 11th and 12th St) New York , NY 10003 United States
The size of the nearby Stand’s Rare Book Room, but with two important advantages. First, it is open every day ’til 10:00pm. And second, all are free to use the shelf ladder.
Very cozy bookstore with super friendly employees! You need to spend $15+ to use your card but I managed to find a book here that I couldn't at Strand. Highly recommended!
Nice bookstore , not very big but has everything, the guy knows his book , has many valuable collectible editions . Nice music selection too.
The books outside of the store are super cheap ! There are rare finds in this bookstore .
The coziest, most delightfully magical book shop, where I happened upon an original edition of "Here Is New York"
Around the corner from the strand cathedral , Achapel of great used art books .
A miraculous vortex that reads your mind and has a the exact obscure out of print book waiting for you.
endearingly stuffed with a knowledgeable staff to sort through the stacks for you
Decided to try selling a few used books here to add to the small bookshop collection vs the Strand around the corner. The guy working here was rude throughout the exchange. Ew.
Very nice staff and amazing atmosphere!
Beautiful collection & each book on the shelves outside is $2.
Hidden gem jampacked with great books , around the corner from the strand
Super nice employees, good selection of used and rare books , love this place.
For when the Strand still feels too "new" for your liking.
The Strand has quantity, Alabaster has quality.
Great racks of sale books outside--around the corner from the strand, check it out!
great selection
no sorting whatsoever, but some surprising finds - in short , don't go in looking for anything in particular.
Solid, interesting music playing overhead (as opposed to dead silence at some other places...) and better book selection than I've found at other downtown bookshops. Great jazz record selection. - liz s
Hip and edgy independent book store with well-selected assortment of used books in remarkably good condition. Particularly strong in the art and film genres. I highly recommend visiting Mast. - Eric Ryan
Must visit if you're in the area, very crowded on weekends but the third floor rare books level is really cool! - Sydney Rappis
Great place to see about 10 squirells running through the park. Amazing for photos. - Petr Maňas
Good staff. Vegan grilled cheese sandwiches are tasty, too. WiFi is excellent. Lots of tables. - Tommy Lane
Good break from the heat or cold. Large store that has pretty much any book or magazine you could want. Bathrooms! - Brent Caswell
