Be in the center of it all when bringing your pup to the Union Square Dog Run . Nearby Ghandi statue keeps it zen while the pups have a crazy good time.
One of my favorite places in NYC. Great for people watching , easy to get to by subway, and there are plenty of places to hang out nearby.

Sit on the steps on the southern edge of the park for some of the best people watching in NYC. Extra credit if you grab a fruit smoothie thing from the guy on 16th and Union Square West.
Best farmers market in the city . Make it a weekly routine to pick from your local farmers versus your friendly neighborhood whole foods. Id rather overpay here and talk with the farmer.

Start your visit at the Greenmarket – where you’re likely to drop a lot of hard earned loot – and then visit the dog run , ending with the performers/college students at the south end of the park .

On a Saturday, hard to beat Union Square Park. Farmer's market . Mighty Mutts dogs. Street performers . And usually one or two whack-job individuals or groups promoting some conspiracy theory.
Bigonion organises free walking tours conducted by university phd students who have very good knowledge . Must do. Very informative.
