The CCCB is a public institution created in 1994 to foster debate and cultural activity around the city and other key aspects of contemporary societies. Located in the heart of the old city of Barcelona, where it has made a considerable contribution towards the revitalisation of the area, the CCCB is both deeply rooted in its local district and concerned with modernity and global issues. It presents major thematic exhibitions, organizes debates, conference series and research on urban issues and current affairs, and hosts literature, dance, music and independent video festivals.
