Old time jazz band plays 5:30-7:00pm followed by New York Jazz band from 7:00-midnight. Great atmosphere people a must for those visiting Shanghai head towards Peace Hotel on the Bund.
High table minimum coupled with jazz that is in desperate need of at least some semblance of emotion makes for a somewhat desperate time, but the novelty/cute factor is definitely present.
The band before 10am is the famous old jazz band , music is "interesting" and old Shanhai. After 10pm the band from US is great, very nice real jazz music
Probably the worst live performing band I've ever heard. Everyone plays on their own timing. The drummer plays jazz on a square marching beat the whole night. No Dynamics from any instruments.

About the most expensive place in Shanghai. If the band was any good, it might be worthwhile, but that's not the case.

Back to the '30s at Shanghai's most famous hotel and jazz bar . Excellent cocktails . Reservation highly recommended / required !

Nowadays "The Old Band" plays from 7:30 and are accompanied by a singer from 9:45.
