The Concrete Ship is the Palo Alto, It was intended to be a restaurant & dance hall when It was grounded & the wharf built out to it. It started to fall apart , so now only the birds get to go aboard.
Around twilight, move down the beach away from the people and you might see some incredible pelican dive-bomb action, fins poking out of the water (whales? porpoises?), and other creatures.
Get there early for the best parking . We go out by the bathrooms and head left. Break is nice when the tide is low/mid. Gets big at high.
Come for some serious cardio on 110-step stairs with ocean view . The stairs are lit at nite and there is always someone working out here. Grab your iPod and get a free workout.
Walk north to the Concrete Boat (SS Pali Alto) & beyond to Seacliff beach & then back south towards Hidden Beach . A great 3 mile walk/jog...
Our office is located on Venetian in Rio Del Mar , couldn't ask for a better place to work .

Bring the kids out at low tide for some awesome tide pool walks. Sea urchins, crabs, octopus and if you're lucky some seal, dolphin and sea otters spottings. - Jason Shellen
One of my favorite beaches. Family friendly and good food right in the beach front. - Damian Tompkin
The visitor center at Seacliff State Beach is worth a quick stop. They have a little pool where the kids can touch starfish, anemones, etc. Sometimes you can make kites there too. - Rachelle C
Cute little deli next to Rio Del Mar beach. They have a gluten-free bread option for sandwiches! - whitney b
