Great food, decent prices, awesome ambiance. Consistently good. Fever cocktail is a glass of yumminess. Everything on the menu is real Chinese food . None of the starchy-MSG crap. What's not to like?

Farah

Its where Carry and Big had their rehearsal dinner .. I liked the lobster egg rolls and the crying chocolate . The bad thing is you have to wait at least 35 mins even if u had a reservation a week ago!

Ms Helene

Best dishes-Appetizers: tuna tartare spring roll , oyster & foie gras ; Entrees: roast duck pancakes , ma po crispy fish , steak with parsnip chips ; Dessert : Crying Tiger was the best!

Paige C

Service was excellent. My friends and I dined for my birthday and we were very happy with the food and ambiance. The edamame dumplings , lobster fried rice , and pretty much everything were delicious!

Mads

The Bo Bo Plate is a great appetizer for tasting the tuna spring rolls , sesame shrimp toast (one of my favorites!), boneless spare ribs , carrot dumplings and Cantonese spring roll .

Exhilarating to the eyes and tastebuds alike, Buddakan presents the vivid flavors of the Far East in a surreal atmosphere that marries the serenity of Asia with the flamboyance of 16th-century Paris

Alex Linkey

Everything. Literally. I would highly recommend trying the edamame dumplings and short ribs with noodles ! Mochi fried doughnuts are the best way to end your meal!

If you happen to like "Buddha Bar " franchise, you'll like it in here. Buddakan has decadent decor in an awe inspiring ambience. Perfect place for groups, business meals, date nights or clubbing

John Agapitos

Amazing ambiance, great music ! A “must-see” Asian restaurant . Favorite dishes are the Whole Peking Duck , the Sizzling Short Rib , and the Minced Pork Lo Mein .

Paula Buzzo

The decoration is so gorgeous!! The service is impeccable. Ask for the Edamame Dumplings as appetizer and then Glazed Black Cod , both are delicious.

Natacha

Amazing! Great setting, nice waiters , good music vibes, and the food! I had the tuna tartare spring rolls and they were to die for! Lobster eggrolls are for big eaters. Bigger place than expected.

Daniel Landberg

The jumbo shrimp as well as ribs are the best I have ever had and at a decent price at that. Just incredible. Service was truly exceptional. Definitely among the best dining experiences in the city !

Phyllis

This place is always a surprise. Came here several times and I'm amazed at the size of the restaurant + quality control in the kitchen. Every dish has been very good. Would highly recommend Buddakan.

Amy Sagar

The tasting menu was amazing, specifically the edamame dumplings , cashew peanut noodles , cod , and short ribs . It was also way too much food!

Kimberly Agin

We were a group of 8, went family style , and enjoyed every single dish. Some favs: Jumbo Shrimp , edamame dumplings , scallion pancakes , green beans , potstickers , and tuna tartar . Can't wait to go back!

Nikhita Mahtani

Obsessed with this place! Cocktails are yummy (try the charm), crying chocolate is the best dessert and LOVE the food. Edamame dumplings , wild mushroom cheung fun and tuna tartare rolls are delicious!

Greg Tan

Incredible space, excellent service (Ryan and Susan are wonderful), and wonderful food. Get the edamame dumplings , and never look back.

Rewan Parti

Good for dates and trendy ! Get tables at the below level, order the soup and shrimp dumplings . The rock shrimps are a must have. The Monkfish is definitely the best item on the menu.

Vanessa Borges

Best asian food I've ever tasted. Perfect service and good atmosphere. Amazing place. Remember the 'Sex and The City ' movie ? Yes, Carrie has her rehearsal dinner in this beautiful restaurant . ????????

The Corcoran Group

Awesome décor and architecture ! And it doesn’t outshine the food! Try the chili rock shrimp , Mongolian lamb chops and lobster fried rice . It’s easy to overdo it here.

Kay 5

It's a-no-conversation kind of restaurant ! Very loud music . Anyways i liked Wild mushroom chow fun noodles and Vegetable rice , it comes with coconut & curry foam, very delicious.

Laura Diana-Garratt

Have a cocktail prior to dinner . The bar area has a cool vibe. Get the tuna tartar , shrimp and lobster dumplings DELISH! Black cod - yum and the crying chocolate was the topper! Awesome....

Zeba Siddiqi

The interiors, atmosphere is very fancy & upscale ! Do try the shrimp toast , broken chili chicken , Crying chocolate dessert ! Best for special occasions !

Meghana Dhar

Even if you aren't vegetarian , get the edamame dumpling ...truffle oil makes filling phenomenal. Veggie dishes to order: pineapple tofu , greens. And don't hold back: order the crying chic dessert

Caroline Deng

This is where Carrie from Sex & The City had her engagement party. They have a free coat check at the door. Love the Chili Rock Shrimp and Edamame Dumplings !

My home away from home. Order the chili rock shrimp , edamame dumplings , black cod , short rib and feast..dont miss the crying chocolate and FATE cocktail . Still heaven after 4 yrs

Headlines and Heroes

Buddakan’s bites do not disappoint. Try the delicate Edamame Dumplings , served in savory shallot Sauternes broth, or the rich Wok Fried Oyster and Foie Gras flavored with fragrant Thai basil .

Carl-Michael Hirsch

Loved it. Environment super cool.Very good service . Dumplings where very nice. Try their carrot cake , may sound boring but the whey it was served and tasted; Epic.

Grayson Dunning

Trendy places can serve up good food too. I try not to be suckered by the Buddhist theme but Tao & Buddakan have impressed me with their food & ambience. The food, the attitude - worth every Benjamin.

Nikki Bogopolskaya

They offer a family-style tasting option for parties of 6 or more. It's a ton of food, but a great choice for hungry diners or special occasions !

Katherine Chiu

Favorite asian fusion restaurant . Impressive decor. Huge lounge upstairs if you have to wait. Pricey but you get what you pay for. Must try the edamame dumplings and cauliflower stir fry .

Anup

Make reservations . They have an amazing waits staff . I'm always impressed how quickly they manage to get your food to you. The crying chocolate cake is a must try.

Daniel Castonguay

Delicious food and a dark, intimate environment. The chili king crab had a delicious sauce and the black cod was like butter. The doughnuts were served with a cup of delicious jelly/cream.

Sam Pezzullo

The space itself is super impressive and quite massive for New York City . The food is also top notch. Try as many things as possible and share, that's the only way to do it here!

Aristotele Strobbe

The atmosphere is awesome! Stylish and fashion! And the food is very good! You should come in groups so you can order lots of different plates so you can taste anything!

Elizabeth Burstein

Loved their cauliflower lollipops and ginger glazed lamb . The clarity cocktail is delicious too. The lobster rolls and rice were mediocre.

Aaron Pang

Food was actually legit. The cooking was very classic Chinese. Peking duck was okay, not as good as decoy but the beef stir fry , fried rice , rock shrimp , and bass were all excellent quality

Fernanda Neute

A little too touristy for my taste, but the food is excellent. One of my favorites: the OXTAIL DUMPLINGS and the CHOCOLATE PISTACHIO CREMOSO is my favorite dessert of all times!

Eaters Heaven

Rock Shrimp-crisp&saucy, Tea Smoked Ribs-good, but a bit dry, Whole Bass-moist&not over cooked, Dungeness Crab sticky rice-flavorful&nice amount of crab , Cremoso-many textures&blend of flavors.

Betsy

We liked the first level tasting menu and were absolutely stuffed. In retrospect, if we had done the second or third menu, we would have had waaay too much food, and of course you need to try it all.

Mallory Napolitano

Amazing food in a hip gorgeous place. Excellent service with helpful advice on ordering veggie and wine choice.

Simran Dass

Amazing good & atmosphere. I really liked the Tso Dumplings , Tuna Tartare Rolls, Ducks in a Row, & Noodles w/ Prawn

Nabil Bazzari

Oxtail dumpling , edamame dumplings , glazed alaskan black cod , dungeness crab rice , banana cheesecake

Abhishek

Great place to share dishes. Loved the selection of appetizers and meat. Good ambiance! Definitely recommend for romantic dinner and dates!

DailyCandy

"Stephan Starr opts for shock-and-awe tactics at this immense dining palace (think Versailles meets Ming Dynasty). Try upscale takes on standard fare like lobster egg rolls or wild mushroom chow fun ."

John Agapitos

For dessert , have the Crying Chocolate - an explosion of chocolate , caramel , and coffee for a great finish to an amazing night!

Melissa Chai
