From 81st Street to 90th Street, the Esplanade rises above the FDR Drive and merges with Carl Schurz Park. The paved promenade lined with benches along the river includes small flower gardens and a dog run.

Great secret entrance for this dog park at 60th and York. It's a ramp closed to cars, but works for runners and people to get to the river walk - it will save you going the long way at 63rd. - Eric Friedman
