This is my fav restaurant in the city mostly bc the food is amazing and they have washroom slippers but also bc the staff yells at you in Japanese a lot and I'm totally into that

Fatih Kuran

Very authentic Japanese restaurant . Set menus are good for tasting the most out of the menu. Ribs and oysters are recommended. Unfortunately there is no sushi here

Laura Delgado Ranalli

Yup, that udon carbonara was definitely the way to go!! Sake mojitos are also delish. Absolutely love this place, feel teletransported to Japan!!

Kirk dude

Great if you love this style food. If you are picky there is an amazing rice/chilli dish! Amazing drinks. Atmosphere is energetic. A great place for small groups.

Joey D

I love being able to communicate with the waiters/waitresses in Japanese. Very fond of the Ramune sour, and the Karaage . The energy, and atmosphere of this bar is amazing, and I highly recommend a try

Comfort Stride Foot Clinic

It was louder than a night club on a Friday night. Then it was somebody's birthday and it became rock concert level. hahaha Excellent food. Neo Japanese Morimoto style cuisine. I prefer traditional.

David G

Great atmosphere, loud fun service . It's a great place to try a variety of what I consider Japan tapas . If you have an open mind/palate I recommend it.

Having been to Guu on Robson in Vancouver, Guu on Church and now the Bloor St. location, I think this is my favourite. The food, of course, is amazing but we were almost in tears over just the sheer e Read more

Fave dish: kakimayo !! Next would be fried Brie and cheese+mushroom bibimbap . Sakabar has become a lot more packed over the last year...at least they take reservations now!

Sam S.

The tasting menu is a very good deal for $33. 9 good sized portions with distinct tastes.

Elina

It's my family's favorite restaurant and we love this location the best. Must have gindara and oshizushi!

Maggie Tran

Japanese tapas style dishes, great and fun spot. Make sure you order sake bombs :)

Josie

Wonderful servers, delicious food, excellent selection of drinks. Everyone should visit!

CARBONARA UDON ! Deep fried brie , salmon natto, ebi mayo...pretty much every single dish. skip the cocktail - can't taste any alcohol . get beers or wines

Desmond Foo

Great place for birthdays, get the Seven Samurai special and you'll get a loud birthday song with it.

Angie Tsang

The beef tongue was surprisingly good. The sashimi is fresh. Try the amebi and uni. Probably the best izakaya in Toronto .

Sally H

This location takes reservations til 3:30pm the same day! They'll hold your table for 15 minutes. Be there on time!

Balca Arda

I had great sashimi salmon and tuna with tofu salad ..best Japanese place in toronto

Rita Simoes

Get ready for a hell of a greeting when you enter this place. They make you feel special when you come in and when you leave. Lots of shouting.

Ice cream bibimbap is the best sundae-like concoction I've ever had

Guu SakaBar : uncluttered open concept enviro, no shoes allowed, communal tables , enthusiastic staff , imaginative menu 4/5

James Kachan

All the deserts are amazing. So is most everything else. Try the Okonomiyaki !

Elina

Gindara (black cod ) is to die for. The fish is so tender.

Nate Jackman

Don't sit at the corner bar by the stairs to the bathroom you'll get less attention from servers. I don't understand why they don't open the other half of the plans when they are at 40 minute waits!?

Charles Law

Unfortunately not what it used to be. It’s not bad but food quality has gone down, service not as good, and last time I was there the bartender was polishing glassware with his breath.

Victor Suen

The scallops sashimi was melt in your mouth fresh, but caution: small. Seared tuna and baked oysters , were good too.

Alejandro Portela

Love this location, enter to the right and take off your shoes !

Charles Law

Best izakaya in Toronto . Beef carparcio, uni, and beef tongue are highlight dishes.

Lisa Chu

Must try the bang bang chicken salad and the kakimayo

Sharon Fung

Love their soft shell crab tempura and seared tuna

Reese's Pieces

Order the KAKIMAYO ! baked BC oysters with mushrooms , spinach , garlic mayo topped with cheese ! Absolutely amazing!

Aron Papernick

Delicious fish , cold beer , friendly service , and NO MAKI ! Amazing.

MC

Be prepared for a big warm welcome! :) a few things to try: kinoko bibimbap , takoyaki , and kakimayo .

Ryan Bannon

Delicious Japanese, giant steins of Saporo, and lots of yelling. A total riot.

Aprile Elcich

The menu never really changes, come here once or twice for the fun atmosphere .

Marvin Vinzon

It's always refreshing to be welcomed by enthusiastic shouts :) Friendly service for sure!

Gladys. C.

唐揚げ karagge is awesome. Can't find better ones in Toronto yet.

Ryan

Use the bathroom . Even if you don't have to, they are so beautiful and peaceful .

Christine Wilson

Very nice sake bar . They also now how slush beer .

Michael M

Get the 1. Salmon TAKAKI and 2. Ebimayo. All the other stuff is low yield and wacky.

Orlena Lee

Sit @the bar , you'll see and hear the action

Jane Tran

Tontaro!! Be sure to use the hot mustard

Jennifer Chang

One of my fave restaurants had my rehersal dinner for my wedding here

Angie Tsang

Used to love this place. It’s still decent but the food quality has gone down a bit. On a slightly concerning note... watched this guy polish the glassware for an hour by breathing on it.

Elyse

Try the deep fried brie - it's heavenly.

Jane Man

The takoyaki gratin at Guu is now one of my of my favourite foods. Hands down.
