First half of the trail is a solid hike . The second half... You better bring gloves and real hiking shoes . It's extreme. Hands and knees climbing. Great views along the way.

Brad D

This trail has a definite scramble element. It's short , but it is straight up. Bring some water.

Rueben Silva

Things to do and remember prior to arriving. This is hiking trail and is for NOT for beginners . Commute with your party that is hiking ! Parking is horrible. Please be courteous to your fellow hiker.

Helen Gibson

OK, weather is perfect, take gatorade, and start the ascent Echo Canyon way. Some railroad tie steps first, than a great vertical boulder climb for thighs. Seen Cardinals there hiking during week...

Stephanie H

One of my favorite hikes . Steep. Guide says 2-3hrs total but you can do it in ~40 min each way if you’re reasonably fit!

Anthony Duran

Very busy and very steep, this trail keeps the fire department and medical first responders busy! Especially with tourists lol So be careful, stay on the trail , drink plenty water and don't litter!

Alan

Awesome hike , beautiful scenery , like everyone says, bring lots of water . A must do!

rbka G

Challenging and will kick your butt. Afterward, checkout 32 SHEA on 32nd St + Shea. Serving coffee , food + liquor (if you're in the mood for bloody mary or mimosa ) open for breakfast , lunch + dinner !

jeremy miller

Short but challenging hike ! Bring lots of water , and make sure your shoes have lots of traction .

Chris Webb

Extremely difficult hike best for hiking experts in goodb shape. Take at least a quart of water. Hiking and parking after sunset prohibited. No dogs .allowed

Get to the lot before sunrise, not much parking . NOT FOR BEGINNERS. Some steep sections. Bring gloves because you will be scrambling. No water after the trailhead, so pack some up. Great views .

be prepared to sweat! bring lots of water , preferably in a camelbak (no pun intended)!

In winter months the lot stays full most of the day and is difficult to get parking . Avoid this by carpooling in a cab or hike elsewhere.

Brian

WHen you get to the top look for a brownish layer hanging over the valley of what appears to be a cloud...It's actually pollution. Scary.

Jon

Excellent view of the city

Umm, 4lokos and copious amounts of amphetamines will make this much more enjoyable for anyone and everyone. Fact.

Charles Tabangcora

Bring lots of water . Try to avoid weekend mornings. It's gets packed but there is a overflow lot available. Just follow the trail of people.

Chris Fultz

Fun place to practice rappelling

Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia

Even if you can't make it all the way to the top, this is a must try during your stay. If you're here on Sat. there is a guided hike . If not, stop by the front desk to grab a map and be on your way.

Go deuce before you head up
