Echo Canyon Park / Camelback Trailhead is a hiking trail Camelback East Phoenix located in United States.
E McDonald Dr Phoenix , AZ 85018 United States
First half of the trail is a solid hike . The second half... You better bring gloves and real hiking shoes . It's extreme. Hands and knees climbing. Great views along the way.
This trail has a definite scramble element. It's short , but it is straight up. Bring some water.
Things to do and remember prior to arriving. This is hiking trail and is for NOT for beginners . Commute with your party that is hiking ! Parking is horrible. Please be courteous to your fellow hiker.
OK, weather is perfect, take gatorade, and start the ascent Echo Canyon way. Some railroad tie steps first, than a great vertical boulder climb for thighs. Seen Cardinals there hiking during week...
One of my favorite hikes . Steep. Guide says 2-3hrs total but you can do it in ~40 min each way if you’re reasonably fit!
Very busy and very steep, this trail keeps the fire department and medical first responders busy! Especially with tourists lol So be careful, stay on the trail , drink plenty water and don't litter!
Awesome hike , beautiful scenery , like everyone says, bring lots of water . A must do!
Challenging and will kick your butt. Afterward, checkout 32 SHEA on 32nd St + Shea. Serving coffee , food + liquor (if you're in the mood for bloody mary or mimosa ) open for breakfast , lunch + dinner !
Short but challenging hike ! Bring lots of water , and make sure your shoes have lots of traction .
Extremely difficult hike best for hiking experts in goodb shape. Take at least a quart of water. Hiking and parking after sunset prohibited. No dogs .allowed
Awesome view , but be prepared with water and try to be early. If not, the sun will kill you...
Get to the lot before sunrise, not much parking . NOT FOR BEGINNERS. Some steep sections. Bring gloves because you will be scrambling. No water after the trailhead, so pack some up. Great views .
Prepare for steep walking.. Make sure you get off the trail before 5:45 else you will get a gift of Parking ????
Always bring water with you and wear the proper shoes with good traction . This hike is intense!
fun workout with friends! would definitely bring enough water, but they also have some coolers to refill at the trails start
They say, first timer's feel is much difficult than they anticipated. It's very much true. Be prepared.
Wear good trail shoes ; traction is important on this trail
Water, good shoes and a in shape body. Not as easy as it looks.
Work hard , do more , break less , hike to the top b/c it very amazing view
Morning hike in Echo Canyon. Beautiful views .
Dogs and hiking after sunset are prohibited here - there are better places for that.
Hey anyone know how to get the last few moves and top out on the south side of chipmunk boulder? Or the rating?
Bring good shoes , gloves , a camera and water!
There is no parking here! It fills up really quick.
Great hike for one awesome workout!!
be prepared to sweat! bring lots of water , preferably in a camelbak (no pun intended)!
In winter months the lot stays full most of the day and is difficult to get parking . Avoid this by carpooling in a cab or hike elsewhere.
WHen you get to the top look for a brownish layer hanging over the valley of what appears to be a cloud...It's actually pollution. Scary.
Excellent view of the city
Bring your gloves and hiking boots . Git er done!
Great hike !
Great Morning hike to get the blood flowing.
Take lots of water and go up Echo Canyon side first and down Cholla. Way better.
Think like a camel. Pack water!
NOT for beginners !!!
Don't get helicoptered off the mountain !
This hike is crazy. Not for beginners .
Bring water!!!!!
So many bigs flying everywhere today 5/1 caution????
Climbing, Repelling, & Base Jumping w/ beautiful view of Phoenix, Az in the background. Hiking for the less adventurous.
The best in Phoenix!
Be patient for parking .
If you'd like to have a guide lead you up the mountain , come to Montelucia on Saturday mornings during the fall to take part in a guided group hike .
Umm, 4lokos and copious amounts of amphetamines will make this much more enjoyable for anyone and everyone. Fact.
Bring lots of water . Try to avoid weekend mornings. It's gets packed but there is a overflow lot available. Just follow the trail of people.
Fun place to practice rappelling
Even if you can't make it all the way to the top, this is a must try during your stay. If you're here on Sat. there is a guided hike . If not, stop by the front desk to grab a map and be on your way.
Go deuce before you head up
If your in town for a few days, and love hiking, you must attempt Camelback. It is a great hike with an amazing view! Just be cautious with parking, it can fill up pretty quickly so get their early. - Michelle O
In all honesty, it's better to not know what you're getting yourself into. The echo trail is very difficult but it is amazing once you're at the top!! Don't give up! Coming down is easier ???? - Hannah Smith
Best place to hike! So many different trails for all levels (including people who don't exercise at all). I've brought international friends here and out of town guests - they all loved it! - Jennifer Crane
Off the beaten path trail entrance that delivers a much better than expected experience. Mostly rocky trail and fairly rigorous from the get go. Great way to get to Hidden Valley and Fat Man's Pass. - ????Andrew Kolikoff????
Nice regional park with good trails. The loop trail up the mountain is good with awesome views for not much effort. - eric bornemann
A must do if you live in the Phoenix area. Located in beautiful Scottsdale. Great exercise and amazing view throughout the hike and especially at the summit. Bring water! - vincent kelly
Iced tea, Red Velvet Cake, Seasonal Cookies! All of it!! - John Seaborne Jr.
