Almond croissant is a must. All the pastries and coffee are reasonably priced too! Lots of small tables and a back patio , great for reading or getting some work done (no wifi , but a few outlets)

Amazingness from the counter = almond croissant , bread pudding (sweet and savory) and pecan roll . Amazingness from the menu = tomato mozzarella sandwich and roasted garden vegetable sandwich . Yum yum!

Cozy cafe with patio seating in the back. Check out soup of the day. That day was Asparagus Cream soup with green onions . Though my favorite was Coffee Cake . One of best ones so far i have had in SF.

This is the best bakery I've found in SF. Their pastries are unparalleled, the croissants especially. They made a Christmas tree 100% out of bread last year which was an amazing holiday touch.

$1 for "mini" baguette ... Eat it there and get it toasted and comes with butter and your choice of jam ! If they don't have the jam you want, you can choose from any of the new jars on display

Everyone raves about the almond croissant , but give the blueberry scone a serious consideration. It's the best muffin you'll ever have, just in disguise as a scone !

Almond & ham and cheese croissants are both favorites. Love the backyard and casual , non pretentious atmosphere here.

Check out their soup of the day. It's often delicious. My favorite is the corn chowder although I haven't seen it on the menu in a while.

Something was wrong with the croissants today (which I usually love): they looked flat and tasted very buttery. Don't take them when they look like this !

All of Thorough Bread 's sandwiches are outstanding and prepared to order. Order the Tuna Melt though, the olive oil toasted bread and fresh, light tuna mayo is particularly great!
