Pizza night on Mondays & Fridays is a MUST. Also the toast with cream cheese is great. And the one with cinnamon and sugar. YUM. I'm not 100% keen on the coffee because my heart belongs to Blue Bottle
Can't go wrong with Josey Baker Bread toast and Four Barrel Coffee - the cinnamon toast is my recommendation. Thick cut toast , smothered in butter, then topped with a crust of cinnamon & sugar.
The Cinnamon Raisin Bread Toast with Butter and Sugar is the bomb! Pictured here Whole Wheat Sesame Poppy w/Butter and Pluot Jam also yummy and course can't go wrong with Four Barrel Lattes or coffee .
Currently the best coffee vibe in San Francisco. Be sure to try the $4 toast . You will be glad you did.
What a beautiful space. Get the Toast #2 (butter, almond butter , sea salt ). If you're meeting someone, be prepared for the challenge of talking while almond butter is stuck to your teeth.
Get the #2: Whole wheat sesame poppy toast with butter and honey . Amazing. Music choices were great too! Playing Jim Sullivan's UFO album on vinyl in the back when we walked in. One of my favorites.
This place has skyrocketed to the top of my NoPa coffee shop hit list. Four Barrel is awesome, natch, but you seriously need to try the Josey Baker toast . Incredible.
I love this place. The coffee , the toast , the subway tiles, the pretty, disaffected waitstaff , the sea of twee. I would nap here if they would let me.
Toast with almond butter and honey is my go to. And I always love a good latte from four barrel. I personally like to grab a loaf of bread to spread with almond butter and honey myself - much cheaper!
If you're visiting The Mill with a friend, order up the dark rye toast with cream cheese for a non-sweet starter, & don't pass up a chance for a well-prepared Four Barrel macchiato . Read more
Very cool coffee shop ! I discovered it in the San Francisco City Notes app and immediately put it on my must-do list. It has a very cool quirk to it, in that it's house specialty is toast !
Hands down best baked bread I've ever had, with a rotating menu of seasonal jams and spreads. Coffee was good too, and if you can nab a seat, enjoy watching the baking process
Four Barrel coffee + Josey Baker Bread = you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Lines can be long and seats tough to find!
Finally open after 8 months in the making - and worth the wait. A bright and airy space. The bespoke cups are very pleasing. Ian makes a great espresso and the toast really is pretty amazing.
The coffee here is excellent. Go with a Flat White . Order up some toast , because the bread is amazing. The almond butter with honey is greats. The herbed egg salad toast makes a great breakfast .
The spreads come in a wide variety for all pallets. It's bread at the end of the day, but Paris is the only other place I had seen master the art of it. Enjoy with a hot cup of coffee .
Paying $4 - $7 for toast may seem absurd, but there's no denying that these fancy toasts are ridiculously delicious. If their serving everything bread with pesto , don't miss it! WinstonWanders.com

Coffee , espresso , toast - even take home a whole loaf to recreate if you are so daring. Four barrel beans ????
the toast is made from local favorite Josey Baker bread , long loaves cut into 2" slices. daily toppings. ex) white bread w. honey , butter, sea salt ; seeded loaf w. almond butter & sea salt
Their toasts are amazing! They usually have a good mix of sweet and savory ones as well ! One of my go-to places for carbo-loading!
Even though there was no WiFi , I really enjoyed working here. The place feels spacious because of the high ceilings , and I loved how brightly lit the space was on a sunny day.
Coffee and pastries on point (when they're not randomly closed). They also sometimes hold events here which are pretty fun (Monday pizza nights, pop up tacos , etc.). Lines for this are killer though.
Gorgeous and spacious spot for coffee / meet ups / reading / getting offline work done (no WiFi )!
Awesome place to start your weekend. Very lively , serving Four Barrel coffee and who can resist good toasted bread with almond butter or cream cheese . Peach Coffee cake was delicious.
Try and go during the week when it's less crazy. Great cafe to sit and take in the surroundings. A stroll to Alamo Square is always required after.
The coffee side of The Mill is owned by Four Barrel, it's actually their second store in San Francisco. The bread goodness part of it is ran by Josey, from Josey Baker Breads .
You can grab Four Barrel Coffee and a delicious toast - try the sea salt with homemade nutella .
The special toast w/butter, jam and salt is delicious! You really can't go wrong with their toast options. Recognize and accept that it is 'overpriced' for a piece of toast and you'll love every bite.
Enjoy walking the dog by here and getting a cafe au lait . The place is massive and plenty of seats. The toasts are good but don't wait in any lines ; get the Nutella one and go on with your day.
Flawless cups of coffee are served with or without a snack . We vote snack – the Country Bread with Butter, Cinnamon , Sugar, and Sea Salt made us jump on the Toast Train that we’d been making fun of.
I can attest to the Dark Mountain Rye toast with cream cheese , sea salt and pepper . The coffee is good too. Open space , but loud and busy. Still, a good place to get some work done.
$4 toast seems expensive until you shift your paradigm: Where else can you get breakfast in the city for $4? I love getting apricot jam + cream cheese . Four Barrel coffee ; environment is warm hipster .
Yes, I love the toast but it's also fun to buy a loaf to take home and have toast everyday. Have noticed the loaves have gotten a little smaller than when they first started...but same price $6.
Coffee , almond milk lattes and the tastiest toast I've ever had. The olive & Rosemary with Parmesan toast was amazing!
Latte with almond milk is awesome! Toasts are pretty good as well , they all different, need to try all of them:)
Worthy of much praise - the bread , the pistachio croissants , the excellent coffee and the ability to observe all the bread making in action, it's all good.
Excellent coffee and delicious bread . Great atmosphere to relax or work. Love coming back to The Mill.
You can order your own custom toast ; you don't have to stick to the menu.
Four Barrel coffee & Josey Baker toast . I ate a #2 toast , whole wheat with butter + almond butter . Simple but tasty. Not sweet. A little heavy, so half amount was enough for me.
The toast has gone downhill lately, but garlic knots and pizza every night are where it’s at.
If you like rolling your eyes at twee hipsters , this is the place to be. Also the toast lives up to the hype.
Pick up your Four Barrel beans here, and don't skip a $4 cream cheese toast on the amazing Josey Baker bread .
Coffee at @TheMillSF is the best I've had in the US...the cappuccino brought back memories of Italy. Excellent toast to go with it too. A+!
Some might think that $4 toast is crazy, but it's worth it at The Mill. The country toast with pumpkin butter is my favorite.
Great vibes, spacious , coffee shop that serves four barrels coffee . Definitely try their toasts. I'm a little disappointed at the croissant though.
Holy shit the best avocado toast I’ve ever had. Also the loaves of bread are incredible.
So many breakfasts are quantity over quality - one serious doorstep-sized chunk of toast + spread of the say is a treat that will satisfy you until lunch .
Rotating menu with a yummy seasonal options. If you get a chance try the pop tart. It's fantastic. - Tacia Coleman
Get the wild mushroom mac & cheese (with truffle oil). It's ramekin-licking good! - Debra Farber
My two favorite things:fresh bread and chocolate soufflé cake ..yummy - Sibel Akcekaya
Nice place to hang out, great view of the city on a sunny day. - Jacob Mulligan
Beautiful produce but pricey. Fantastic selection of cheeses and local breads. Find firebrand artisan bread's pumpkin seed pretzels and authentic bagel co.'s bagels here. - Bommy
My favorite part: perfumes and aromas of CA areas in little glass bottles. There's a little hidden store in the back with beautiful kitchen and drinkware, all imported from Japan. - Michelle K
