Hawk Hill is a 923-foot peak in the Marin Headlands, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge and across the Golden Gate strait from San Francisco, California. The hill is within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

This is one of the best hidden gems in the entire bay area . Amazing lookout at the top of the entire city skyline and the golden gate bridge . Still one of my favorite scenic places in the SF area

Visit Hawk Hill on a clear day in the early afternoon and bring along a picnic lunch (park your car facing the view and enjoy), a windbreaker, and binoculars .
I can confirm it is indeed a hill and there are in fact, hawks. Best experienced by bike .

To get the bridge with the city of San Francisco in the background, pull over about half way up Conzelman Road . There's one spot where the Trans America Pyramid lines up with the North Tower.
The rock to the right as you go up the hill is called chert. Each centimeter contains 10,000 years of sedimentation.
You're standing on ancient oceanic rock…that used to reside at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean!

This is a perfect trail for families or when less athletic visitors come to town. Paved and relatively flat but stellar views at the beach. A real gem. Parking can be crowded though so arrive early. - hikerly
