Great place for post work drinks, food, and music . Get the cod roe spaghetti and the brown sugar plum wine . Bar tenders gave us a free cocktail to try out!
Cool spot with awesome ambience. For food, the Cod Roe Spaghetti was really good and unique. For drinks, they have a nice scotch and various malts menu, but don't get the cocktails , or the wine .
Hidden in a basement . Ring the doorbell and wait to enter through the huge silver door. Perfect for when you're in the mood for jazz and sake on a weekday evening.
cool atmosphere - good jazz , vibe, had pork ramen and veggie croquettes , green tea zen cocktail . Shared okonomoyaki w aliza. Oko great, ramen ok, croq great, awesome tang cocktail . Cod noodles no
Call ahead to make reservations b4 u go! tiny space and best to come in groups of 3-4. Tanmen , okonomiyaki are good. Try the Lychee sorbet or honey toast with fruits + green tea ice cream for dessert
one of my fav spots in the city . skip the cocktails and go for the sake/shochu/whiskey. Avocado salad/fries/croquettes + pretty much the entire entree menu are all great.
The moment you walk in, you’ll notice their unique atmosphere. The best way to get in is to get there before 5:00 PM to wait in line . They have a wide selection of Sake. Plume wine is good.
Awesome happy hour until 7:30. Music starts around 8 - 10 so head down early to get a seat and eat. Food there is for sharing.
Call ahead to put your name down. Ask for the upstairs area if you prefer to be away from the music to have a conversation. The seating downstairs is a see/be seen area for patrons and the live band .
Plum wine , mozzarella in prosciutto , Bellini , and okonomiyaki were all very nice. Plum wine a must-try
Love the pancakes ! Tangerine slush cocktail and coconut one. The other wasnt great.
Awesome spot and opens late . It gets pretty busy when the live jazz is going on, but if you want some late night snacks and drinks it's pretty laid back .
Very nice little jazz hole in the area, great music and respectable drink prices. The service seemed a little aggressive and impatient for the night, not sure if it's consistently like that every nigh
Cool Japanese inspired speak easy bar . Jazz music with a $10 cover. Asian Tapas plates served.
Intimate Japanese jazz bar , speakeasy feel. Love the Avocado Spaghetti and Choya plum wine !
Great spot, lots of food and drink options. Most seats don't have the music and the live music is nice but by no means a focus of the place
They gave me a cocktail that i hated , when I politely asked to replace it with something else the impolite waiter refused and started to make drama ! Too bad ????
Basement jazz , yamazaki sour and mentaiko pasta . One of the better combinations in life. Try the crab omelette omu rice and house plum wine too.
Great live music and fun space with nice ambiance. Food is only okay and expect a line .
Love the Japanese Italian bar food. Comes in small portions and is cheap during happy hour . The sausages basically redefined my idea of sausages ...
Absolutely fantastic place for a jazz - evening! Food and cocktails are also great. I totally recommend it!
I had a couple of mojito drinks, a nice balance. The yaki udon noodles were great, each bite had a flavor without being overpowering.
hidden gem in midtown, great happy hour food, perfect spot to hang out with friends.
Love love love. Great selection of drinks and their happy hour deal is amazing
This is an awesome hidden place to get drinks with live music . Great selection of Japanese whiskeys .
Cozy spot with good food, a wide selection of wines and liquors , and quality live music .
This is my new gem - perfect location for happy hr drinks after work. The service is superb.
Great cozy place in midtown east for cocktails sake and some dishes with great music .
Fun date spot ! Live jazz and speakeasy vibe. Okonomiyaki was tasty
Sit by the piano to get front seats for the jazz singer ! Get there before 7:30 PM for happy hour specials !
An AMAZING jazz spot in the East 50's!! The music is always hot, the vibe is always cool and drinks are always cold.
Jazz , sake, food, ambience = 10/10
Nice hidden jazz bar with a good happy hour . We had to call ahead for seats.
unreal vibe and music - must go
Whatta bar . Luv their house whiskey . My recommendation here is to try their curry rice ! 5-star!!
Don't order any cocktails here (not great). Ask for the plum wine of get a recommendation on one of the Japanese beers they've got
Always a wonderful place. To start the evening, or to end it. I LOVE this bar .
Very intimate setting . The wine was surprisingly decent but the gin and soda was mostly flat soda . Go for the music not the drinks
Whiskey bar , jazz bar , ideal underground small bar
Went here with my date a few weeks ago.My date is a fan of jazz&this place was great. The food wasn't overpriced, the drinks, music were exceptional&staff were kind/attentive.We'll definitely come back.
Dont miss the demi glaze omurice
Great place, just stay away from the house sake.
Great live jazz , great wine and great food.
What’s good? Everything.
Jewel in the city ! super cute and great food
Get there early. Gets busy fast!
the venue! the music the ambiance!
Hiro is the best :)
Cod roe spaghetti ⚡️
Not a great place if u really wanna enjoy the music . People chatting very noisy while the band playing.
Incredible spot for date night. If you don’t have a reservation, get there around 6:20/6:30 for a 7pm set and sit at the two bar seats closest to the stage! - Amy Cummings
It's very small. In the basement next to La Lanterna. They share a menu and have good food and a decent wine list. Good musicians. Inexpensive cover. Get there early for a good seat. - Sarah Colvin
The Appel Room is a lovely and intimate venue for a show. It has stunning views overlooking Columbus Circle and the bottom of Central Park. - Paul M
amazing.. fresh.. warm and gooey goodness.. best cookies ever - Adriana Ojeda
Firm noodles in rich broth, you can't go wrong. Almost as amazing as Totto, the sister restaurant across town, with a shorter wait. - Becky S
