A bartender saw us languishing in the crowded bar and took us through the dining room into an unmarked cocktail bar called Richelieu. Do that.
Legit cocktail bar . Order a Sazerac or just ask the bartenders as they know what they're doing when it comes to drinks. If Chris Hannah is working be sure to get his bar / food recommendations.
This is the type of bar that you just let the bartender make whatever he feels like for you. There's a small museum upstairs that showcases how rich and elegant the Arnaud's family was.
The bar is connected to Arnaud's Restaurant and is the best place to go to start you visit to the city . Start with some cocktails & souffléd potatoes .
This is a fancy cocktail bar!! Not stuffy tho so rest easy. You must get a Sazerac and a French 75. Grab a cigar and smoke inside.

Such a classic place. Came one day in jeans and another day in full dress with a wedding party including a bride in her dress and a groom in his kilt. Received the great same service both nights.
All the goodness (and none of the pretense) of the cocktail renaissance...but it never died here to begin with, just so ya know....
Go before 6pm and get a seat at the bar while everyone else is being seated in the dining room—and don’t forget the cognac .
The French 75 is pricey , but worth it. Ask if you can see the upstairs rooms with Mardi Gras gowns of years past.
