the temple base are carvings of papyrus and lotus plants, symbolized by figures of the Nile god Hapy. Above temple entrance are images of the sun disk wings of Horus, the sky god.
The temple was given as a gift from the Egyptian government. It was originally built in 15 BC during the Roman occupation, so the pharaoh on the wall is Caesar Augustus .
Just go sit and take it in. Take pictures. Enjoy the juxtaposition of the old and new right next to each other.
Met website has a nice post explaining the reliefs, including Augustus , Isis, and Osiris. https://www.metmuseum.org/about-the-met/collection-areas/egyptian-art/temple-of-dendur-50/cult-and-decoration
A classic of The Met, and a peaceful hide out on a rainy day.
