An open stretch of white sand and turquoise water near the airport . You might see it from the plane . Recommend a four-wheel drive to traverse the 2 mile road down from the highway over the lava field .
Hard to find the sand we expected. Surf came right up to the rocks and was rough. It is winter. Restrooms and parking .
Didn't feel like swimming , so instead of sitting Around like a usual beach , I found some tide pools and found some amazing scenes. Bit of a hike though.
You'll need a four-wheel drive car to drive in, but it's worth it.
Beautiful light blue waters here. Not too crowded in the morning!
One of these best beaches I have been to. The whitest sand, gorgeous water, and perfect waves.
AWD or SUV typed high-clearance vehicle is recommended to pass though the approach.
Worth the bumpy drive to get here...gorgeous and empty = perfect.
Great little white sand beach
Awesome road to drive on
Crisp clear blue water and white sand
The road is not paved at all. Drive only a 4WHEEL
Great snorkeling
Amazing crystal clear aqua blue beautiful water...lots of 20 and 30 something's and families with young children. So much fun!! Great body surfing/boogie boarding! Bring water shoes for the lava hikes - Brittany Smith
Only place on the island I’ve ever seen Hawaiian monk seals! There’s two other hike-in beaches nearby too. - Mark J.
Best beach I've seen so far on the island. There is no sign at the turn off. You have to look for the cemetery then the turn is right across from the cemetery. Gorgeous! - Kimberly Tipton
Huge area with very few people. Bring shoes for the hike. Previous tipper said it was paved, but it's actually a path of fist-sized, sharp-as-glass lava rocks. - Steven Haber
The Big Wave and the Wailua White are both amazing light beers! - Sabrina Michele Tilley
