Only open to 5pm. They have a small exhibit with informative reading plus a gift shop . If this one closes on you don't panic the Jagger Museum stays open later.

The park rangers are both knowledgeable and friendly . Small exhibits and cute gift shop . Be sure to stop by before exploring the park !

Best view of lava can be see from a helicopter. From the ground in the evening you can see the red shadows of the flowing lava.

In addition to the interesting movie and helpful rangers, the paper maps are very helpful. One side has the area around the crater, and the other side is Chain of Craters Road .

Bring a water bottle, you can refill it outside for free. There are no beverages for sale here. Then grab a map, and pay attention to current lava flows and closings.

Talk to the park rangers before you head out. They will give you the most up to date information on what's going on.

Small visitor center but friendly , if prickly, rangers will help you out. Don’t blame them, lots of asshole tourists come thru here daily.

Ask the ranger for tips on seeing lava. Try the gift shop at Volcano House for a better selection.

They had some nice traditional Hawaiian music and hula dancing that was great.

The rangers will help you to your tour through the whole national park .
