Check out the Highbridge Play Center constructed between 1934-36 it was designated in 2007. The former site of a reservoir , the elevated location of the Center offers views of the Harlem River valley.
A great Manhattan/Bronx adventure. If you don't want to go up the stairs take the bridge from Manhattan and return on the Alexander Hamilton bridge .
The best sledding location in hilly Highbridge Park is by the ballfield on East 174th Street, just north of the rec center. Read more

The area that is now Highbridge Pool was once a reservoir supplying water to the entire city. Today, you can see the water tower that remains as you swim in the enormous Olympic-sized pool. - NYC Parks

Recently renovated. Built in 1848. This is the best view one can get from uptown to downtown. Water passed over this aqueduct to deliver fresh H2O downstate from upstate reservoirs for a growing city! - Harlem Ambassador
