Great place to grab a seat, read a book or munch on your lunch . There's plenty of park benches and lawn space to sit but NEVER feed the pigeons or they'll chase you for the rest of your lunch

There's always a great lunchtime scene. There's no reason not to picnic every weekday, weather permitting.
Frequent food truck stop for weekday lunches ; at McPherson Metro Station ; major bus transfer point. Park is often covered with litter; would be pleasant if not for trash.
Also a much better option for getting up to Columbia Heights vs. Green line any day: quicker, faster, cheaper.
Food trucks congregate on the east side of the park weekdays for lunch .
Watch out for the squirrels . They have devil eyes and will steal your lunch if given the opportunity. They have no fear.
