The White House

Don’t miss the White House beehive and the First Lady’s vegetable garden from the gate on the South Lawn. The bees pollinate White House plants and make honey for the first family and their guests.

Try to go in the morning! It gets really crowded in the afternoon (which makes it hard to find a good spot to take a picture)!

If you want a tour , you have to coordinate with your local Congress office months in advance, but we enjoy taking it all in from the outside. Amazing landscape and a legendary building!

If you ever get a chance to visit Washington D.C., the White House is a must see! My suggestion is to walk down the strip rather than have a taxi take you because there are tons of monuments to see!

412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces , 7 staircases, and 3 elevators . The White House has been known as the "President 's Palace ," the "President 's House," and the "Executive Mansion."

Went on a tour of the White House. Very long wait to get through security. Took an hour and half. Tour itself is self guided. Lots photos of Presidents and you get to see a few rooms.

That's the best place to see in Washington. The view is amazing and the gardens are beautiful.

Everyone should take a tour of the White House...but you'll need to make reservations in advance of your trip. Rather, you'll need to schedule your trip around the reservation . But highly worth it.

Email your congress person and arrange a tour . It's well worth the effort. How often do you get to tour The White House!

Note that if you want a tour , it has to be reserved at least 60 days in advance in order for them to do a background check. Even w/o it, we got some lovely pictures, but had no president sightings.

There is free parking in front of the Capital, get there early and take your walking shoes

The house is great, the actual tenant is questionable :) Don't think to get in and don't think to get any close cause you will not

Hop on the Metro to Farragut West and follow Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. You may be lucky enough to see the President’s helicopter or the family dog, Bo, being take for his morning walk .

Is located in an area where you can also find the Washington Monument , the Lincoln Memorial and the U.S Capitol. Take only 7 stops from the Foggy Bottom Metro station .

Tons of history here. The house looks amazing and the grounds are so well kept.

Good place to take a few pictures while waving to the president ! Always a must see for anyone visiting DC!

A nice place to shoot photos. Park in the front is beatiful.

President Ford, an avid swimmer, installed the pool and cabana in 1975. In 2002, President G.W. Bush renovated the cabana with a solar array to help heat the pool, spa , and running water.

It's great if you love monuments and American history but the security is crazy. Protesters are very interesting. One has been there 25 years.

Great open space . Usually not much to see other than the front of the White House and a few protestors now and then.

I suggest taking your pictures from the North Lawn, the South Lawn view is distant and often closed to visitors.

have stg to eat and drink before you start the trip, there is no really quality food in the park , its worth to walk around though

Completed in 1800, The White House is the oldest public building in Washington, DC and has been the home of every president except George Washington.

You can bring your cell phone with a camera into the WH but can't take pics inside. But you CAN take pics outside the entrance of the steps of WH before the front lawn.

Take the time to submit your Public Tour request to your Congressional representative, it is worth it!You can do this 6 months in advance.

Look at it through a fence, maybe you'll get lucky and see a helicopter do something. It's really just cool to be somewhere so meaningful.

It is much smaller than I imagined, but it's nice to know.

Take the time to walk all the way around, there are many beautiful things about where the White House is situated. Don't miss the kitchen garden either.

It's a really big government building where the President lives. Good luck getting a great view . Oh and don't pretend that you might climb over the fence. They don't find it funny.

7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fridays, and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays. (Public) Guided tours have to be requested through your Representative/Senator (4-6 months in advance)

Great pictures of the White House can be made from the Ellipse. It's not always open for the public though.

Maybe inside the building to the President and comfortable , but work in this environment of tourists , probably very difficult.

Not really much to see but you have to take a look... Don't forget to look at both the front and the back of the house... You get a good view from Lafayette Square...

Definitely not to be missed. Reserve tickets well ahead of your trip.
