Delicious dosas and medhu vada (lentil donut with chutney ). Watch out tho, vadas have whole black peppers in the dough , making them extra spicy ????
This is the sort of spot that south Indians would approve of; it's the place where I get my dosa fix. Chutneys are flavorful & idly vada with sambar remind you of Kerala. Also is vegetarian friendly !
You will NEVER find a bar in a South Indian dosa joint in India, but NYC has one to offer you. The dosas are great if you're Indian and missing home. Just don't convert the prices back to rupees :)
I love eating, so the worst thing about this place was how full it kept me for how long. The paneer dosa was amazing and all the condiments were delicious. Great lassi & chai , too.
The onion masala dosa was awesome as were the chutneys.Craving south Indian food ...this is the place to go...food tastes as good as the one at Connaught place New Delhi.Only downside was the washroom
Start with the madhu vada, crispy and delicious. The mysore masala dosa is as close to authentic as I've found in NYC. Take a look around, the clientele says it all. (4 of 4 petals via Fondu) Read more
Like in India! Get the spicy onion rava masala dosa ! And some idli to start off. Judge by the crowd that this place is authentic !!
Loved Onion Rava Masala Dosa , batter is thicker and crispier than others. Waiter recommended it for us since was hard to differentiate btw dosas on menu (they all have same ingredients!). So good.
FABULOUS!! Nice space, good service and great food - dosa masala is the best!!! Will be back and also order thru seamless.
Idli vada is excellent. Dosas , obviously great. Some of the best sambar I've had in a long time. Next time will go for dinner and take advantage of the bar , which is rare for a South Indian joint
Cheese dosa is to die for and I've never had a better mango lassi
Delicious vegetarian South Indian food . Well known chain world wide, order the rava dosa , rassam and uttapam. Quick service and reasonable prices.
TT 10 Cheap Eats: "...serves enormous, gloriously crisp dosas (Indian crepes ) w/spicy mashed potato filling. On side, refreshing cilantro-chile chutney , coconut chutney & bowl of sambar (lentil soup )"
Really authentic . The dosa here is bonkers
Inexpensive , friendly service and assortment of South Indian specialties such as Rasam. There is also all-vegetarian menu.
My favorite south Indian restaurant in NYC. Most everyone says that about this place, and you can taste why that is. The menu is more extensive and the quality stands out. Rava dosa is my #1 entrée.
Love the paneer dosa : spicy n interesting! Also rava khichdi is yum, and of course the idli medu vada rasam dosa ! Mango lassi yay! Must have chole bhature on weekends and weeknights!
Flavorful, filling, greasy, hot, spicy and yes, still vegetarian ! Drown in the Hot Idli and Sambar and don’t hesitate to ask for extra ghee !
My favourite place to eat in Manhattan and probably the best Indian food I've eaten anywhere.
It’s best on a Saturday or Sunday morning! Idli and vada combo!
Fantastic South Indian from the worldwide chain. Rawa dosa with lots of onions and chilliest ftw
You can't go wrong but the onion rava masala dosa is a personal favorite.
Excellent Indian Vegetarian restaurant ; immense menu; idly and hot potatoes ; great dosas ; butter vegetable masala ; watch out for the chili garlic naan , it's gunpowder truly
Great Masala Dosas and Mango Lassi was good. Byrani was tasty too. Can't wait to go back and try other Dosas .
Was craving authentic Chennai food for so long. The vada and masala dosa made my day!
The mini tiffin gives you the perfect amount of everything.. chase out with an extra strong filter coffee and you're in heaven..
I come here every time I visit NYC. Great food, but it is expensive . Some 9 bucks for an idli and vada..
Literally any of their Dosas , the sweet Lassi , and all of the desserts . ????
this place is the king of all South Indian cuisine , surely a must place to eat if you are interested in a wide variety of South Indian cooking
even if you are not vegetarian go here! This place has really tasty dishes.Try the dosa or the paratah bread with any chutney .I have been there several times and the food has always been great
Best filter coffee in US ! Absolute must. Will keep u awake for at least 2 days :-)
This global South Indian chain offers some of the best dosas in the city .
Incredible Channa Batura. Everything we had was delicious.
If you're not sure what to get, you can't go wrong with the Thali lunch special . Its a little bit of everything and soooo good :)
Simple. Authentic south Indian food . Pretty good place. Prepare for some waiting time.
You haven't lived until you've eaten these mashed potatoes with your hands
Masala Dosa is great. Family friendly with high chairs and diaper changing table
My favorite has always been the onion pancake :)
The Best Best Best South Indian i ever had ...their Bisi-Bele rice ...no comparison ... :-P
Prepare to wait (not the best service), but the food is great, the chappathi was a good time.
Great choice for weekend breakfast . Crowded , but quick.
Authentic South Indian food - extremely tasty! Nothing special about the service or decor but worth going for the food.
Masala Chai is superb.
Masala dosai is amazing
Few of the staff members are rude but the food makes up for it! Stick with Idlis & Dosa 's & madras coffee .
Full selection not available for lunch menu . South Indian tasty vegetarian fare .
The best place to get South Indian (vegetarian ) food in Manhattan.
Get the rava masala dosa & the paratha
Their service has deteriorated in the past few years & sometimes there is quite a big line (remember to write your name in the book outside...else wait is even longer) but da food is still really good
One of the 10 best vegetarian restaurants in New York according to Village Voice
