I used to hate AMC theaters but this one has REALLY stepped up their game. The large red chairs full recline and have foot rests. The plus assigned seating makes the theater going experience not blow.
If you live in Kips Bay or Murray Hill , no need to go further away. This theater draws a crowd but is well kept and enjoyable. Cheap snacks across the street too!
One of the more pleasant movie theaters in the city because its not overly crowded . Ticket machine pro-tip -- Swipe with the stripe UP! Its counter-intuitive yes, but everyone struggles with it.
I prefer this location over Union Square for more popular titles. Still crowded , but stadium style seating and a little off the beaten path is a nice change of pace.
This is the best theater if you want more of a neighborhood , or suburban feel. Also, it's pretty easy to get a taxi after and a couple of cute Resturant's nearby.
You can't get a bad seat here. Very comfortable chairs and a lot of leg room. 15 screens and lots of different movies all the time.
My favorite movie theater for blockbusters in Manhattan. It's sufficiently far from subways, it doesn't get too much pedestrian traffic, it's clean and spacious .
This is my favorite movie theatre in Manhattan! It's clean , less crowded , and has awesome reclining movie seats.
Spacious and clean theater. Try not to go during opening weekend of the next blockbuster as you'll end up hunting for a pair of seats.
Snacks next door are always a last minute save if you're running late. Great theatre to avoid the crowds at union & times sq. Fake IMAX so don't waste your time or money. Great weekday date night .
My go to theater which consistently has projection/sound issues but guess what you get a free ticket every time !!!!!!!!!!!!! Capitalism backfires!!!!!!!!!
Comfy , spacious seats make this worth the trek from the subway. Sit close to the center if you come here because the screen can be surprisingly dim.
reserved seating is great - FWIW, the seats are separated enough that it’s not like two people sharing one (compared to a place like Alamo that feels more couple-y)
A good way to check out the Kips Bay neighborhood . Grab dinner or drinks at one of the many great restaurants or bars near by. Make a fun night out of it.
My fave theater in NYC for big blockbusters. Spacious and comfy seats and space. Arrive 30 mins early for optimal seats on new releases.
Icee machine upstairs is out of service indefinitely. You'll have to go downstairs to get your brain freeze on.
Mondays are a great night to come! You have the whole theater to yourself!
A nice theatre it has the original posters for old movies that came out years ago. It also has Sistine chapel of movie actors all over the ceiling. Very extensive food menu for a movie theatre
So the 'fake' IMAX screen size is not the real deal...Regardless the sound in theater 10 (IMAX) is awesome! Want to feel the movie ? It is worth the extra cost.
I love this movie theater . It's not crowded , you can watch any movie you want without the big lines .
My favorite theater in Manhattan... Also quiet and quiet so you can actually enjoy the movie
Sunday nights are surprisingly crowded . Do your best to arrive early to get a good seat. Try not to side on the wings because the speakers are quite loud and ruin the left-right balance.
Decent multiplex with some good indie films as well as the usual mainstream schlock. Upstairs cinemas (1-10) are nicer.
One of my favorite AMC's in Manhattan. Clean and well maintained. Only downfall is it out of the way
Not sure where all the hate is coming from. They have the best non-IMAX screens in the city . Comfy seats too.
Best theater if you want to avoid the bad "elements" of 34th street and the Time Sqaure movie theaters
Probably my favorite theater in all of Manhattan. Clean , roomy , and the audio quality in each individual theater is well-adjusted!
Pros: Snacks are good. Pretzel bites are fresh. Theaters are a decent size with reclining chairs . Cons: Bathrooms are usually dirty & I’ve seen a mouse in one of the theaters.
I've seen plenty of movies here. The best deal - buy a large popcorn or soda and get infinite free refills!
People where clapping at the screen? Whaaat? James Bond cant hear you!! Very weird. Also come early when you wanna get a good seat
Reserved seating, reclining seats, AMC stubs discounts , and $5 movie Tuesdays!
Go to Waterfront Ale House and buy their home made beef jerky before the movie it's amazing.
Super chill AMC branch. But don’t tell anyone else.
Clean . Easily accessible. Not as expensive as others. Great movie too.
Best place to view new releases since it's always less crowded . Easy place to get a cab
Newer theater with stadium seating and few crowds... One of the best theaters in the city !
Perfectly average movie theater . Usually fairly Uncrowded and easy to get good seats
Huge theatre with tons of screens, great reclining seats.
One of the better theatres in the city . Helpful staff and a good crowds!
In the wake of the tragic events in CO, I will be donating tips made this weekend, stop into Whiskey River across the street and help out!
Theaters 7 through 10 are the best and biggest theaters. The worst and smallest are 1-6 followed by the ones downstairs. Also, the theater doesn't have a real IMAX screen .
Awesome theater with reclining chairs . Don't fall asleep, you might miss your movie !
Solid place to see a movie . There's a Rite Aid nearby to stock up on candy before you go.
This theater is amazing but the IMAX ugh not that great but although this theater is better than AMC Magic Johnson 9
If you're having problems pooping in the upstairs main lobby bathroom , the Terminator theme can be heard from the arcade . Inspiring in a tough situation.
Please don't leave garbage under or around your seat... the people who work here don't get paid a lot, so why give them more work?
One of my favorites in the city . Stadium style seating
Rarely packed, which is awesome. Solid choice for seeing blockbuster types.
$8 matinee at Kips Bay on the Eastside as oppose to $15 on the West. Save money and pick up snacks at Rite aide .
Best movie theater in the city . Get your tickets at Costco - so much cheaper.
Usually pretty busy on big releases but a nice theater non the less - N Martin
I like this theater. Lots of options, comfortable seats. Popular movies get sold out so make sure to book in advance. - I K
Ever since the remodel to all luxury / fully reclining seats, this place is amazing! Perfect for hot summer days when you just want to veg out but still get out of the house - Avin Narasimhan
Cheese, olives/oil, meats, fish and the deli are my favorites. Skip the coffee. - Jay Mandel
Mac and cheese was amazing, along with their fries! Service was great. - Rose Rooney
Great Service. Never a seat during lunchtime though. People are camping out studying or something. - Holden Me
