Still has the old NY feel, it's a great spot to people watch or hang out in the nice weather with a book . Plenty of good food and bars around. Beautiful in the spring and home to a family of Hawks
A great place to stroll after eating and before the in goes down. Stop at the dog park to the watch dogs play. Always a great way to see how compatible you are with your date.
Relaxing park , a few courts, a pool I don't think anyone uses, and benches galore. I've been warned it's not so nice the later in the evening you get, but surrounded by shops and hot spots.
Love just sitting at this welcoming park you will be happy you came.. bring a friend or just a blanket and sit on the grass .

Play ping-pong or watch dogs run around at the historic Tompkins Square Park. It’s the heart and soul of the East Village and Alphabet City .
Not the cleanest or nicest park around, but it does have its charms – for instance, it hosts the largest Halloween Dog Parade in the country !
For the dog section, it's great!!!! There's always so many cute and fun dogs... especially during annual costume parade !!
Head over to the dog park , pretend to give one of the furry little guys a scratch on the head but actually whisper how much you hate dogs into the lil' guy's ear. "Why you gotta poop everywhere?!"
Visit the puppet stall to get some advice. We were told to get a dog from the rescue shelter. Beautiful in a sunny day but it gets really busy.

Cults don't own a dog but still love to hang out here. "It's kind of creepy...but it's great! You just sit there, maybe bring a dog treat, just ruffle some dogs and hang out."
Go for a run around the neighborhood then workout at the free outdoor gym at the NE corner of the park . Pro tip: use the loose bricks as dumbbells.

Tompkins is a great EV park . It's definitely one of my favorite people watching locations, with passersby embodying many EV idiosyncrasies.
In the Alphabet City area of NYC, a large park , they actually have a farmers market , and open area where bands play, bigger then Madison Square Park

On the north side, there's a monument commemorating the 1904 General Slocum disaster , the greatest single loss of life in NYC prior to 9/11, mentioned in James Joyce's Ulysses.
The Greenmarket is open on Saturday and Sunday. You can also drop off old clothes and shoes for recycling on Sundays. Very cool.
There are two dog runs at Tompkins Square Park. One for large dogs and the other for small dogs. If you have a medium sized dog, however, they can run loose around the flag pole.
Mull around the awesome dog park and bow before man's best friends, just make sure to watch out for derelicts doing heroin and dog-sized rats .

There's a pile of fertilizer in Tompkins Square Park you can't miss it. There's also piles of human shit sprinkled around Thompkins Square Park too, though, so watch your step.

Great, great sets of basic bars for kids to climb around on and develop strength.
This park gets so much funding, yet it's always dirty and filled with drug addicts. Not safe to walk here at night. The dog park is the only positive here.

The Tompkins Square dog park never fails to provide entertainment, rain or shine.
Word is the bathroom stalls don't have doors because people would shoot up heroin here. Personally, I recommend just enjoying the air and the trees .
