National Museum of the American Indian

Free admission . Beautiful huge vaulted center room. Comfortable seating , nice collection. I stop in whenever I'm nearby for a quick 10 minute look. Infinity of Nations is best current exhibit .

This museum was the HQ for New York’s customs offices until 1971. It was also ground zero for the Stamp Act Riots in 1765, as Fort Amsterdam, when U.S. and British soldiers used it as a stronghold. Read more

One of the more fascinating museums in NYC – situated in the old US Customs House – where admission is FREE everyday and it’s rarely crowded .

Conveniently located in a touristy area. You can get drinking water and bathroom access for free, and probably check one or two interesting exhibitions by the way

It’s free it’s fabulous, everyone should go. It’s also great for kids as well as adults. They offer free tours conducted by very friendly staff .

Worth checking out if you enjoy history and FREE. Beautiful building. Good exhibit on American Indian's in music incl clips of Hendrix and others in a mini theatre .

I was pleasantly surprised by this museum . It's small and free so you get through it quickly but I loved the temporary exhibitions featuring contemporary artists .

Very limited but culturally rich museum that explores great works of art and fashion of the modern Native American.

Very large building, very small exhibit . If you are in the area for other things it's worth the visit, since it's free.

Hands-down the best native artifacts I've ever seen. Beautifully curated. Also, amazingly, admission is FREE.

Too many tribes...and not enough space for the details I would have liked to read about. I feel like you can through the whole space in an hour or so.

It has security check point at entrance so don't bring a knife with you if you plan to go. Admission is free and opens all day

The entrance is free - the museum is a part of Smithsonian. It's rather small but worth visiting!

The line through the main entrance can be long. As an alternative, look for the street-level, side entrance for a swifter entry.

Rotating exhibits are great. Free and really informative.

There are hands on and interactive activities in the Education Center downstairs. You can go inside a real tipi!
