Muir Woods National Monument is a national park Mill Valley Marin County located in United States.
1 Muir Woods Rd Mill Valley , CA 94941 United States
The Muir Woods is full of beautiful red woods. Perfect for a stroll with friends or a solo nature walk. Be sure to stop by the café or the gift shop . Sweatshirts are dope!
Want to get away from the tourists , but not willing to commit to an all day hike ? Try the Ocean View > Lost > Fossil Creek > Main loop. ~2 hours, great sights, few people Read more
A beautiful red wood forrest with some nice and easy hike trails . Try to get here early as parking is not easy and you might end up walking miles to the park from where you park your car.
great place to go with people who don't love hiking . trails are accessible and the redwoods are beautiful. parking is a hot mess, though, so carpool and try to come on off-peak days and hours.
Don't go on the weekend if possible. If you do, take the shuttle bus or plan on walking up to a mile to the entrance, and then you walk all around the park . Shuttle is $5/person over 15, free under.
Amazing place to go with multiple levels of trails to take. We didn’t have a lot of time so we did the first loop which took us about an hour. Most of the path is fenced off like a museum exhibit .
If you don't have car, get an Uber and come back with a shuttle, just pay attention with schedule. Good park , small and easy to walk. They have more adventurous trails if u like.
2 Tips for the Ocean View Trail : 1) estimate is 2.5 hours, but my wife and I did it in 1:10. 2) It's a lovely walk, but you're just hiking up to the road you drove to reach Muir's parking . Same view .
It is a must visit when in SAN Francisco. Make you you book ahead online.
We first came by in the morning and there were too many people. Didn't stay, but came back around 5. So glad we did! Not many people and the forest is amazing! Easy trails , go all the way to bridge 4!
best oxygen i have ever breathed.... such a nice, quiet but super cold place. next time i would take the pacific trail but the basic 30 minute trail is very nice too. take time to enjoy it!!!
My first time here in freezing dec 2016 was definitely an experience, walked the basic redwood trail , will definitely do more hiking once the weather is good. A must visit!
Breathtaking views . Nice trails and great visitors center. The food service could be a bit more organized , but they are friendly . This park is a treasure.
Beautiful! Be ready with comfortable sneakers and water bottles. If you’re driving, buy your parking entry and your tickets on-line to save time.
This place is absolutely amazing. Pictures can not show the splendor of visiting. I still can't believe such natural beauty is only 30 minutes from downtown San Francisco.
Hiking on the Forest Moon of Endor. An easy drive from San Francisco into Marin County , these trees will make even the most hardened city-dweller appreciate the beauty of nature.
I'm sure there's some Ewoks around here. Awfully hard to shoot them because they're small, and I'm a Stormtrooper. Tracked the R2 unit here, but haven't found it yet...
One of the most magical places on earth. Stroll through a leisurely hike along these majestic giants. Path is wooden planks for about 2 miles.
You need to make reservations for your parking and if you did not know that you can do this online but there is no reach for your cellphone so go back from were you came and make reservations
Starting Jan. 1, 2018 the Online Reservation will open for parking in the park for $8 and it will be effective on Jan. 16, 2018..so if you are going to the park on Jan. 16 onwards book online first.
What an amazing hike . Great views from the very top and the trails are marked very well . I can't wait to come back here and explore the redwoods even more!
The majesty of these ancient trees is enough for me to keep coming back. The trails are awesome. Best visited right before the summer season.
the trail is great! but, the communication about shuttle times or the availability of shuttles compared to the demand isn't super great. make sure to plan ahead, leave early and be 1st in line !
Still a lovely place on a rainy day, and far fewer people on the trails once you get out from the gift shop a little further.
I find it’s easier for the less navigationally inclined to take the hillside trail up from the Cathedral Grove. Then you hit all the bridges on the way back and the hard part is behind you.
Dont forget to make a parking reservation (8 usd) before you go. Adults 10 usd. Kids free.
Walk far enough away from the visitors centre to enjoy the quiet , there's a remarkable contrast to city life. I would go early morning on a weekday, if going again
Loved it but make sure your there early. Parking is horrible. Another option is to park in Pohono and take the shuttle to Muir Woods, it's only $5/ticket.
A magical place with the tallest living things in the world.Muir Woods offers 6 miles of easy, looped hiking trails through Redwood Forest that inspire wonder in children & adults alike! Read more
If you're going solo or in a very small group, head off the main trail for a serene hike away from all the chatter. You'll encounter narrow dirt paths with minimal foot traffic.
LOVED this place! Do not miss this on your trip to the SF area! MUST SEE! The $7 admission is worth it!
Taking a tour bus from the city means no parking hassles! I could sit here all day and listen to the trees and burbling creek. If you drive, expect to park at least a mile from the front entrance.
Windy road to get there. Fantastic views of these amazing trees . $10 per person is a bit excessive in my opinion but... Great little visit
The best National Monument in America.
If both parking lots are full, there is street parking available a short walk away. Don't forget to keep your voices down in the park .
Parking is very difficult. Lots fill up fast do get to the park early if you want to get a spot. Hiking trails leave from the visitors center. Take at least the mile loop for key views .
For ~3 hour hike take the Ben Johnson to the Dipsea. Before turning onto the Dipsea, walk ~10 minutes further to go to a beautiful vista (even when it's foggy).
1) it's imperative to get here before 9am, painful as that is. Amazing place as long as you beat the crowds 2) people...shut.up. Your incessant, loud chatter ruins the experience for everyone else.
Arrive @ 6 or later in the summer for thinner crowds and closet parking and FREE admission . You'll enjoy it more.
One of the beautiful places we visited.
Such an amazing and breathtaking experience. Also accessible for people in wheelchairs!
A peaceful & relaxing walk in a Redwood forest . Listen closely & you will hear the babbling brook. The tallest & most majestic trees I have ever seen. A must see!!
Walk well beyond the boardwalk, or at least as far as it takes to not be dodging 100 other people. Makes the scenery more enjoyable.
Just beautiful! I recommend visiting. It's like going to Jurassic Park !
Go early before they open up to get in free! Also take trails off the broadwalk, you'll be glad you did
If you are visiting with a tour , be mindful that it's only 2 hours. There are much more amazing sights/trails if you make it an all day affair.
Muir Woods National Monument at 17 minutes drive to the west of Strawberry Village Dental Care
Main loop is an easy trek to all 4 bridges in under 2 hours.
a walk among giants. start up the ocean view trail to the top and pick your return.
Walk with kids silently, they will be amazed how the nature is beautiful in all its details
Please be considerate and observe nature in silence. - Badria Arm
This is one of my favorite trails. If you hike from Tennessee Valley to Muir Beach you can take a side trip from the beach to Pelican Inn for a beer or fish & chips before hiking back. - hikerly
Beautiful tall old redwoods! Connects to the Dipsea trail with amazing views of the ocean and SF - Ekta Daryanani
It was really cold when we visited, but still some people swim. Lovely place for weekend trip. Also it is very close to Muir Woods. - Secil Sanseven
Such a great site!! Amazing views and even places to sit and have a lunch of your not too cold. - Katie Helman
