the shore & the view is spectacular. but be prepared for some trekking before you reach the rocky beach .
My absolute favorite place in Malibu. In addition to being a filming location for the most iconic scene in the Planet of the Apes, has gorgeous cliffs to explore and a great beach .
Wide, rarely crowded , perfect spot for a beachfront picnic as seals and dolphins frolic during sunset . An easygoing path climbs from the sand to the top of the point, with tons of yellow wildflowers
There is a trail to the top of the cliff . No dogs on the beach or trail . Parking is $8. The California State Park explorer annual parking pass does not apply here.
Beautiful beach an nice views from the cliffs that’s a very short walk. Parking can be a big pain if you don’t arrive early.
Take a short trip up the coast to find this perfect spot for hiking or rock climbing , along with spectacular views .
Moderately kept trails lead you to the peak of the point where you can look out over the surrounding beaches . It is well worth the effort!
Amazing little beach . Easy and quick hike up to the point, and a great beach down below to explore. I highly recommend it!
Explore all the trails . See all the views . Keep an eye out for dolphins , whales , sea lions, and more!
The closing scene in the original "Planet of the Apes" movie was shot here! The Statue of Liberty in the ground is actually a matte painting over the bluff at the end.
Amazingly beautiful location for photo shoots and weddings, or just a day of relaxation and enjoying the sunset :)
One of my favorite lookout spots, don't miss this hike while visiting Malibu.
Fun day... saw 3 grey whales with their babies! They rolled in the sand and we were so close we could hear them breath! Third pic is where they put in Ironman's home on the ridge in the movie .
Point Dume was the site of Dr. Evil's Volcano Island in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and the memorable finale of the original Planet of the Apes.
My absolute favorite spot to climb! Especially magical during sunset !!
It is very hard to find a parking place. But the view from the point is breathtaking!
Breathtakingly beautiful! Barely packed on Sunday of MDW.
March to April is best time to see Gray Whales migrating North from Mexico. You will most likely see them bottom feed.
Take the stairs down towards the rocks and take a selfie of you and the gorgeous view in the background.

Lots of people when we did this on MLK Day (a very “LA” crowd, too!). Nice loop with interesting sights. The Sunrise Trail part of the loop seemed to be less crowded. Baby & kid friendly! - Leah Boyer
