Matsumoto Shave Ice

Long damn line but really good when you finally get to it. The large is really large. Make sure you get the shaved ice w ice cream . Great when you finally get down to it.

For those who don't know, shave ice is a much finer shave than the traditional sno-cone you get in the mainland. Recommend it served over ice cream . Vanilla mixes well with a lot of flavors!

Definitely invest in the plastic holder . It's 0.30 cents, but it's worth it. It does get messy and if you get a combination, you can even use the holder to mix it around :)

Incredible!!! Worth stopping by and trying and enjoying! Got there later in the day and the line died down a lot.

The most famous shaved ice spot on the north shore. Line moves fairly quickly, tons of flavors to choose from. Loved the tropical combo with guava , papaya and lilikoi .

Make sure to get ice cream with your shaved ice because the texture of the two is great

The green tea , lilikoi , and guava flavors were all good. Add condensed milk and red beans ! The line was super long but it moves by quick.

Try the Li Hing flavor. Shaved ice was good, the adzuki beans and mochi were NOT good here. Restroom is located outside the shops Code: 3124 for Women and 4213 for Men.

This is a must if you're visiting the North shore. Be sure to get your shave ice with vanilla ice cream in the middle. Large selection of cool souvenir t-shirts.

Glad to read all these tips. This place must be awesome . I lived in Haleiwa since 1992 and drive or walk by there every day . The line is always too long and my lunch brake too short

Syrup poured over shaved ice is the house specialty . Try the Hawaiian — a tropical mix of pineapple , coconut and banana . Just like a Snow Cone , but better.

Skip the long lines and go to Uncle Clay's House of Pure Aloha! HOPA = genuine hospitality , powdery ice, and fresh fruit flavors vs. Matsumoto's long lines , chunky ice, and syrupy sweet flavors.

The holder is a must! No way to eat it without the holder (unless you want half to hit the ground and your hands to be sticky!). Also, prices are really reasonable :-)

Shaved Ice with Condensed Milk (and Piña Colada , Pickled Mango , and Lychee flavors)

Definitely get the ice cream and beans. ABSOLUTELY get condensed milk on the top! I cannot stress this enough.

My raspberry , lemonade , and green tea with ice cream and condensed milk was more delicious than I was prepared for.

Get the cup holder when ordering... Worth the 30 cents. Anything that leaks over the edge gets caught in the cup holder . And you get to eat at the end lol

Since Aoki is closed, I got large Hawaiian w/condensed milk and ice cream . Like a previous tip, save .30 and get it in a bowl and prepare to poop a rainbow of artificial coloring.

There is ALWAYS a line out the front door. Whatever you get, get the holder and add vanilla ice cream -- it's worth it. My favorite is lilikoi since it's not really sweet.

Stopped in after my early morning shark diving tour around 9AM, no line . Had the rainbow flavored shaved ice . It was alright. Cheery staff though.

Lilikoi and green tea flavors are delicious. Condensed milk is a must order. Beans are good, but not a must.

Best I've ever had & portions are huge. Try a half small if you don't want too much, & get a holder to avoid overflow and getting super sticky. Don't forget the ice cream ! =]

No line around 11:30 on a Friday. Matsumoto (Pineapple , Lemon , Coconut ) flavor is excellent. Get a holder and hold off on the beans :)

This is the third Shave Ice place I've been to on the islands and i was unimpressed. The line was long, the flavors too sweet, the ice was very chunky and it was served in a paper cup with wood spoon!
