The family move: Get here before LACMA opens (plenty of street parking ), run around the grounds, tumble down the hill , bring bikes + a picnic , then hit the museum before naptime. Solid LA day.

Buford Barnes

See a unique natural history museum for fossils excavated from the La Brea Tar Pits, which trapped animals here for the past 50,000 years (the period before the Ice Age), right in the middle of LA!

It’s so amazing getting so close to millions years old fossils of marmots etc. todays day life..! Be careful not to get tar on your shoes while walking in the garden .

Isaac Puno

I assure you, the lighting at this location (especially around 3-4pm) is to die for. If you don't pull out your phone for a selfie, something's amiss.

@socalwithkids

There are areas in Hancock Park , location of the La Brea Tar Pits/Page Museum , that still have tar actively seeping though the ground. Be careful not to touch it! Sticky & messy! Check link for more! Read more

A unique site along the Miracle Mile where, to this day, sulfur still bubbles from the tar pits situated outside the museum . Those with weak stomachs should don masks to combat the odor!

Half price tickets at :35 to closing which is more than enough time to see everything and still a bit too expensive considering the size of the museum .

Yes, your kids will find the few random patches of fresh tar and try to eat them. Wash quickly before they get it in their hair.

Informative and worth a visit is better to get to early and avoid crowds because it is fairly small.
