Get a free guided tour by one of the dojis who had lived through the internment camps who share their personal experiences. Most are in their 90s but so energetic and inspirational!
The Japanese American National Museum is the only museum in the country dedicated to sharing the experience of Americans of Japanese ancestry
The exhibit on Japanese American internment is necessary and a must see. Museum staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
The changing exhibit typically lifts you up into a cheery mood and when it ends, you are thrust into the guilt of Japanese internment camps . Nice once, JANM.
Until Jan 8, it's the Tatau exhibit . Definitely worth a trip. Beautiful artwork and culture.
