Absolutely love this park . It's huge & has off leash areas for your dog. Great place to bring a picnic as well ! Lots of restaurants near by and even trails to go for a run/bike ride on!
Beautiful park to just relax and bring your dog to.....and during the day on the weekdays are mainly empty so its really nice when you just need some fresh air but quiet time as well :)
For a refreshing afternoon, Zilker Park is the way to go. Go for a ride in the Zilker Zephyr , row a canoe or take a dip with the locals in Barton Springs Pool . It's 68F (20C) all year round! Read more
Zilker Park: Make sure to check out the hiking trails , but don't forget your water bottle! The trails can go on for miles. Also, make sure to bring your furry friend - he'll make a great companion!
It's so large that it's usually empty so bring a blanket and spread out. I love to bring coloring books and a lemonade . You're also bound to meet quite a few dogs as they're off leash.
Live your summer here. Lounge under a tree , play with your dog, listen to blues , run into friends, play pick up soccer or ultimate frisbee as the day wanes and the lights of the city guide you home.
Really beautiful place to relax and šee downtown skyline ... Our daughter lived in Austin for years but moved to Nashville and when she got married this is where it was. Beautiful photos:-)
Venue for kite festival each year. Check out the lighting of the Christmas tree in December each year. Free movies and shows at the Zilker outdoor theater . Plus dont miss Barton Springs pool !
Less and less of a fan of ACL and the Trail of Lights shutting down Zilker for three plus months. Also, the city inconsistently and sporadically charges for parking on weekends. Fantastic otherwise.
HUGE park where you can just kick back and relax, bring a picnic or join a Frisbee or Soccer game. They also have a mini-train, a pool, playgrounds , gardens and more!
This park is absolutely gorgeous, from canoeing and swimming to hiking , biking and watching amazing concerts , this place is truly one of a kind!
Zilker is the best of everything. Best music venue , best disc golf , best pick up football matches, best volleyball etc etc etc etc
Check out awesome park with huge playscape , duck pond , canoes , paddle boats , train for everyone, live music , kite festival , and Barton Springs pool !
Bring your puppies, bring your blankets and boxed lunches , and read The Hunger Games while getting some rays. A great place alone or with friends and fam. A must-experience in Austin!
Came here for ACL. This has to be one of the cleanest, large park that holds festivals . The effort to keep it clean throughout the festival was amazing.
For the trail of lights , very rude people attending the carousel. Must buy a $5 ticket for baby, then you can't hold them on your lap. Get off after they said you needed 2 tkts for adt & 8 mo old.
A good out and back 15 mile total trail . Wear a shoe with good traction. The moss on the rocks in the middle are slick. Best times to visit are April-June.
Every Friday and Monday night starting at about 6pm until dark there's a great ultimate frisbee pickup game. Go to the field by the volleyball courts . All skill levels welcome. Bring white/dark shirt .
Zilker Park is the site of a lot of Austin's big events , but when it's not booked , it's a beautiful place to stretch and take it in the city . Read more
Summer time free music ! The shows down here are pretty incredible as well . No music playing? Still an amazingly peaceful walk through the gardens
This park is beautiful. Great trails for walking/jogging/running. Great views of the city and the water. And it goes on forever!
Very wild park .. too much activity in there .. i totally recommend going there for biking and hiking
Zilker is the best officially off-leash dog park in Austin. It may be the best anywhere, assuming your dog won't just take off running (there aren't fences here).
One of the best parks I've ever been to. A lot to do, like running, swimming , kayaking , dog walking, etc.
"Common birds of Town Lake ". If you're a super geek that will kayak or canoe , look up University of Texas Breckenridge (Breckinridge ?) Research for longitudinal studies.
People, pick up your dog's excrement. Seriously. You don't deserve the companionship of a pet if you're not responsible enough to do so simple a task.
If you are going to swim in the actual spring and not in the pool, wear shoes that don't slip and slide like regular flip flops. Those rocks are slippery and pointy!
If you made it here during SXSW, Congratulations grasshopper! The zen of the most beautiful park in downtown Austin is not lost on you.
Hike & bike trails , movies in the park , sand volleyball , soccer , kayak & canoe rentals and don't forget the disc golf course .
One of the best parks for people with kids. They have great train depot and marvelous playgrounds
One of a kind park for train rides and near boating and the coolest 67 degree spring to cool off in 100 degree weather in Austin,Tx
Huge lawn, beautiful skyline view . A perfect place for a pic nic or just relaxing!
Amazing venue for Austin City Limits , a three-day music festival held on two weekends in October.
If you plan to canoe or kayak be advised that you need proper attire. If you kayak your butt will be soaked. Running shorts are your best bet since they dry quickly.
Austin's most loved park , and the place to be for, well , whatever it is you like to do outside. If you can't find something to do here, something's wrong.
Trails , disc golf , trail of lights , blues on the green.
Lots of green space for everyone to enjoy and great view of the downtown buildings.
Enjoy the sand volleyball courts , a nine-hole disc golf course , hike and bike trails and large picnic areas , six of which are reservable !
Enjoy outdoors if it's not too hot yet. Site of Austin City Limits music fest & Dazed and Confused movie .
Great Austin skyline view . Beautiful Colorado River alongside the running trail .
There's a great lookout point here which affords a great view of the city and a nice cement area for picnicking without all the dirt!
Favorite place to hangout with families.
Blues on the Green at Zilker is my favorite Austin event . My dog loves the off-leash section.
Trail of lights was great!
Kayak and Canoe rentals, free play in the park , train , pool, swim in barton creek.. Awesome place. It is $3.00 to park when events are going on, but thats VERY cheap for all the attractions there.
Mom-and-baby boot camp classes , a fantastic playground , and the Barton Springs naturally fed swimming area make this park a favorite for families.
Beautiful Park ....try canoeing on the lake it's loads of fun. Make sure you bring cash and wear a swimsuit.
Blues on the Green!!! Every Austinite’s favorite summer activity.
The four mile loop is perfect for a weekend jog. Parking is always a nightmare: there are usually a few hidden spots behind Austin High.
A great park in a great city . Perfect picnic date spot .
Very nice outdoor spring located close to downtown. Parking was limited but worth the wait. - Jessica Bigelow
Love love love the Japanese gardens there. Beautiful place for a walk with family or a date. - Karolina ????

Very beautiful place with picturesque view. Our friend had a wedding ceremony there. However very hot and no place to hide from sun :) be prepared for rocky ground, you'll need very comfortable shoes - Анна Коршенко
Long, scenic trail along Lady Bird Lake - great for an outdoor run or walk - Jennifer Ruiz
