The dosas are served with chutney and samba , an Indian vegetable stew ; Kumar will make them hot or mild to taste, so you don't have to avoid the cart if you're sensitive to spice. Read more

Filling + cheap $5 lunch in the village . Masala Dosa w/ coconut chutney and a side dish (hot soup when I went!). Eat in WashSqrPark + watch seasoned chess players hustle oncoming tourists . Bliss.

NYC Parks

The Special Pondicherry Dosa and a Samosa is a good place to start, though you should try it all. Just be prepared to wait on line . It is a good idea to go a little ahead or after the main lunch rush.

mike castleman

Best dosas and friendliest service in New York. Check twitter to make sure he's in the park before heading over.

Joy Chen

I'd pick Jaffna lunch over the Pondicherry dosa -- it comes with four large, spongy rice/lentil pancakes topped with raw veggies , coconut chutney , and sambar stew . Also, the samosas are where it's at!

Max Bpm

Really good crepes made from rice and lentil . I got the special Pondicherry for $9 filled with veggies and potatoes

New York Habitat

Known simply as The Dosa Cart. Thiru who prepares the food is just wonderful, serving up each meal with a smile. Get the masala dosa with coconut chutney and devour it on a bench in Washington Square.

pipitu

At least an hour wait in line but the dosa is definitely worth the wait. Grab a samosa as well !

Em Lazer-Walker

The Pondicherry dosa might be my favorite NY street cart food. You don't need to wait in line to get samosas , though, so do that if the line 's too long.

Greg Galant

Amazing dosas . Check twitter to see if he's there on any given day https://twitter.com/nydosas

Chavelli

Perfect for a healthy lunch , just make sure to get there before 4pm and brave the line , its worth it! Special Pondicherry is my go-to dish.
