Filling + cheap $5 lunch in the village . Masala Dosa w/ coconut chutney and a side dish (hot soup when I went!). Eat in WashSqrPark + watch seasoned chess players hustle oncoming tourists . Bliss.
The Special Pondicherry Dosa and a Samosa is a good place to start, though you should try it all. Just be prepared to wait on line . It is a good idea to go a little ahead or after the main lunch rush.

At least an hour wait in line but the dosa is definitely worth the wait. Grab a samosa as well !
The Pondicherry dosa might be my favorite NY street cart food. You don't need to wait in line to get samosas , though, so do that if the line 's too long.
