Mee Rebus. Afandi Hawa & Family 01-21. One word: delicious! Aromatic flavour & fragrance of dried shrimps in the sauce, a rarity in our food scene these days
HJH Aishah Omar and Family. ???? Their Nasi Rawan is VALUE 4 $! Egg , paru (tender inside) , begedil, whole long piece of tempeh , and meat pieces.... SHIOK !
#71 & 72 Goody n Jolly , former parkway Mee Siam . Corner of food centre, near main road , facing OneKM. Weekdays Mee Rebus & Laksa only. Weekends Mee Siam . $3.50 Mee Rebus.. nothing spectacular to me.
Chicken rice . Thoroughly enjoyed a $4 plate from Xiang Ji #01-341. From juicy steamed chicken to their chilli drip, from garlic-infused rice to herbal chicken soup . Shows effort & pride
Interesting drink options from Goody N Jolly #01-72. This one is ginger honey tea $1.80. Seriously good taste. There are other hot & cold drinks like red dates honey , ginseng & even fresh osmanthus!
The lamb briyani here is really really delicious ???? Fluffy flavorful basmati rice n melt off the bone lamb is worth braving the heat and crowd for ????
(3/5) Located near a bunch of affordable housing, and frequented mostly by locals, Haig Road is far less shiny and pristine, but is host to a lot more unique, local, and largely Halal eats.
Sarawak Kolo Mee 01-33 serves a decent bowl of noodles with minced pork & char siew (BBQ pork slices ). The shallot oil gives bowl a nice flavour
Mee rebus. What's interesting abt the offering from Hj. Waliti Hj. Mazuki 01-18 is their thick. Distinct aroma of dried shrimps . Very flavourful. A contender to Afandi Hawa across from it
Chinese-style Nasi Lemak . Heng Li #01-61 serves fragrant rice & tasty fried chicken . Would order again
Economic rice . Satisfying home-style cooking from Hock Heng #01-70. Lots of dish options. Affordable
Boon Hiang fishball Tang Hoon stall is simple old skool & packs a rockin chilli sauce . Springy fishballs too. #ThomtoriEats
Chicken rice . Popular lunchtime stall Ever Fragrant #01-41 sells old school style. Meat is tender but rice could be firmer. Soup is tasteless. Value set $4 with boiled vege
This I would say a moderate hawker center. However the Sarawak Kolo Mee is the best. The noodle texture is smooth. Is very nice and good.
Wanton mee : Tried both Kiat Huat #01-62 & Zhenguang #01-67. Former had nice fragrance, accentuated by pork lard & sesame oil . Latter's noodle was q, char siew slices thicker & wantans tastier
Best teh tarik and home made ice lemon tea and power ginger tea @ #01-26 haig road food center ..
My favourite wanton noodle stall is at #01-67 Zheng Guang Wanton Noodle . They were previously from Hin Hollywood coffee shop which has since been torn down.
Modern Cooked Food provides good lor mee . The wantons tasted like salty tacos shells! But noodles were quite soft for me... Should be chewy. $3.50 for charsiew, 4 wantons , belly, one egg , fishcake .
My vote goes to Hoe Huat Wanton Noodles . $3 for a delicious bowl. Love deep deep.
Heng Heng cooks char kway teow , black and white chai tow kuay. The black chai tow kuay is mixed in with lard pieces. Good but $2.50 portion is so little....
Satay . While it received high Makansutra rating back in 2009, we were not impressed by Warong Sudi Mampir #01-19. Only enjoyed beef . Could it be that we ordered takeaway ?
Best carrot cake @ Mei Mei Satay & Carrot Cake !!!!! Tops the ones at Bedok 85!
Zhenguang Wantan Noodles #1-67. Just simple tasting to me, 6.5/10 for my $3 portion
Plenty of options if you're craving chicken rice , but avoid #01-59 (Huat Huat Hainanese Chicken Rice ). The rice is soggy and the chicken is overcooked. They charge $0.30 - $0.50 for soup .
Varietys of food to choose from
This place will be full of people especially on weekends in the afternoon. So be early guys ;)
Soy bean , bread and black coffee less sugar. Some mornings 'teochew style' porridge .
If you're ever in the area you can try the local food. It's tasty and affordable .
Must try!! Kiat Huat Wanton Mee (stall 01-62)...go for the $3 choice, opt for dry noodles with slight chili...the noodles are handmade egg noodles !!
The satay at Warong Sudi Mampir is recommended. Do come early.
#01-33 Sarawah Kolo Mee.. Must Try. Ask For Extra Balaccan Chilli
This market is good for Muslim hawker food finds.
Heng Heng Chai Tow Kway . $2.50....worth it?
Try the indo satay with lip smacking peanut sauce . Endorsed by president Nathan. #01-19 just behind the bus stop
#01-66 Mixed Vegetables Rice is clean , tasty and value for money .
