Kahalu'u Beach

This is a great snorkeling beach , crowded yes but so worth it. The water is calm making this location perfect for all ages. Many fish , urchins & sea turtles to be seen here. :)

Great place to snorkel - shallow coral all the way out a few hundred feet - and if you get lucky (and stick to the left side) you might see a sea turtle

What a fun and friendly place. Hug the walls at the south end and follow around to find turtles hanging out away from the snorkelers .

Easily accessible snorkeling spot in Kona , with clear water. Great for families, shallow with lots of fish . On the north side of the beach along the highway you'll find surf lessons and gear rentals.

Don't let the crowded beach to discourage you. This is one of the best snorkeling spot I have been to. Just swim by the kids crowd and enjoy the wonderful tropical fish beyond them. Shallow and calm .

Unbelievable snorkeling at a public beach . You can rent snorkels and fins on sight for a few bucks. Gets pretty crowded if you swim out a bit it opens up

If you snorkel please do not stand on the reef. The reef is fragile. Learn how to float on your belly! They now have reef friendly sunscreen for free at the pavilion.

Be prepared for a very crowded beach with few spaces to sunbathe . You may want to consider going from your car straight to snorkeling without laying your belongings on the beach .

Look for low tide and enjoy rock pools . To see turtles we find the earlier we get there the better. Less crowds, more opportunity to see turtles feeding around the reef.

Not a white sand beach so bring water shoes to walk around and prevent cuts on your feet. Watch where you step. Things that look like rocks are actual living coral. Preserve this gorgeous place!

Great place to learn to snorkel and for an easy-access snorkel spot. The far right area is great for surfing too and there's on site rental available.

Lots of snorkeling here. Not a lot of sand in the summer but plenty of space to post up for a bit and enjoy the ocean.

Bring some pizza down from Bianellis up at the Keauhou Shopping center for cheap eats and a great sunset .

Probably the best place in the world to snorkel . We've done it in other islands like Barbados, St. Martin, etc... But this place was amazing!

Turtles are always here. It's amazing scuba diving ! It is pretty shallow water , about 3-4 ft deep most of the time.

Rocky as soon as you step in. On the good side, fish right away coz they feed right there. Turtles are by the rock wall to the right (at least when I was there).

Bring your snorkel gear . You'll be surrounded by 25+ types of fish and even eels . Amazing coral too but very shallow.
