If you can catch the Newport Festival Foundation shows, either jazz or folk, you are in for a treat. Fort Adams is by far the coolest festival/concert venue I've ever been to. Can't beat the scenery.

Easily the coolest festival venue in New England. The folk festival is amazing every year.

We were there for the Jazz Festival and we loved the atmosphere around. Beautiful views !

Take the guided tour , you'll see things you can't on the self tour .

It's an old fort. What more can I say? Our noontime lobster bake was being held within the walls of the fort otherwise we would not have been here.

Make sure that you catch a water taxi from downtown Newport if you are headed to the Folk or Jazz Festivals at Fort Adams, it's the only way to commute in the city-by-the-sea!

Head in for a guided tour off-season, and you may luck into a private tour .

Maybe I'm missing something, but when I finally found the fort, it was gated and overgrown with plants.

Come for the Newport Folk Festival , stay for the view (works for Jazz Fest as well ).
