Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

You may get a little wet, but not really. Get ready for a fast and curvy roller coaster without too big of a drop. It’s fast, but not too fast. Great views of mountains and fun. Was worth the wait!

I used to love this ride as a child, but now, it's painful! If you have thicker thighs or are on the taller side, be forewarned that the lap bar hits at mid-thigh, & will hurt! FastPass + recommended.

As you wait in line to hop on the ride don't miss the mining sings on the way. They are awesome and fun to read and pass the time. Be sure to snap pics and touch rocks with golden ores in them.

Sit in the back for the best ride. Try to ride at night and during the day for two different experiences.

Another of the classics at Magic kingdom and actually still a great ride. it will rattle you around so hold on to your hats. Lines can get long so book fast pass well in advance or hit the ride 1st

This is a super-fun rollercoaster , and I had to come back and leave this tip: If at all possible ride this at night, during the fireworks , approx. 9:30-10 pm. The view was AMAZING. No lie. Do it.

This is my mom's favorite roller coaster , meaning that it's tame enough for my mom to ride yet thrilling enough to be highly enjoyable!

The line isn't that bad in the mornings, and there is a lot of stuff to keep you entertained while you wait.

Definitely better at night...seems a lot faster! try to go during Wishes or during the parades at night. The wait will be under 30 minutes. The last car is the best!

Second best roller coaster at Magic Kingdom. A must ride. Try to ride it at night during the fireworks .

The names of the trains are U.R. Bold, U.R. Daring, U.R. Courageous, I.M. Brave, I.B. Hearty, I.M. Fearless.

Try and time your ride with a fastpass as to see the fireworks over the castle as you ride! Also, much better at night!

Explode some dynamite while you're waiting in line .

Very fun ride. My 9 year old son really enjoyed, too. A must do at Magic Kingdom.

Don't care how long the wait is, last car for me EVERY TIME!! Also, completely different feel at night, try it out sometime, HIGHLY recommended!! ????????

If you want a real roller coaster than skip this. It's a sweet ride but for kids. The good thing it's not as short as you might think. You are on this ride for around 2 minutes. Not scary! :)

If you are in the back, avoid the front row. All the energy expelled by the ride focuses right there giving one the impression of being on a pinball machine .

Zooms around corners, quick drops but not too fast. Fun for kids and adults!

Riding at night gives TM a different thrill Riding during the day light hours you'll all the theming for the ride. Both times are great for me!

Love this ride! It's one of the longer roller coaster rides. I still fly out of my seat.

Ask for the last car, it's worth the wait. And brace yourself at the end of the ride for a very jarring stop.

Sit in the back row , turn your body sideways, and look backwards. It's a completely new experience. :-)

Want a more intense ride? Sit in the very back and face backward the whole entire ride. It's much more fun because you don't know what's coming.

Fun but you may prefer the new seven dwarfs ride for a smoother ride.

Incredible view of the entire Magic Kingdom at night. If you can time it with the fireworks - awesome!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a good starter coaster. Sit in the front of the train for a tamer ride. If you're looking for a wilder ride, sit in the back!

Hidden Tinkerbell in the rocks at the exit if you board the left train that exits on the right. Leave the building. It's on the outcropping to your left once you leave the building. Photo added.

During extended hours there was no wait, got to ride this a few times in a row. Back is definitely fun (bumpier), but the first row is my personal favorite. Just try to avoid the middle.

Don't send one person to the line and then have the rest of your party show up an hour later, shoving their way through the line . My young child & I waited, you can, too.

If you're bigger than the person with whom you're riding, sit on their right, or you will crush them ????

Be sure to spin the fans during the wait line and see a shadow animation clip.

Kids love this coaster. Sit in the back if you want any kind of thrill feeling.

When waiting in line if you spin the handles on the fans a light goes on revealing a short shadow movie

Excellent views and a corkscrew roller coaster . It's a lot of fun!

Fantastic roller coaster ! Best time to ride is during the parade or fireworks .

Nice and easy coaster, don't ride it without FastPass , not really worth the wait... or maybe wait until AFTER the fireworks , it's nearly empty then.

Love this coaster! Way better at night and very back row is the most fun

The ride lasts for 3:26 minutes and has a top speed of 30 mph.

If you sit in the front, the ride is more gentle. Best to ride in the back with the most momentum.

Such a fun ride. Best time to go is in May before Memorial Day. Little to no lines , still nice and warm. I rode this ride like 4 times.

My favorite ride of all time First time I have ridden it at the Magic Kingdom. Seems longer than the Disneyland one

Always get FastPass for this! One of the shortest FastPass lines and longest Standby lines .
