Designed by Max Abramovitz, the hall opened in 1962 as Philharmonic Hall , as the new home concert venue of the New York Philharmonic, after the orchestra moved from Carnegie Hall.
This is a gorgeous part of NY, each time I come there's something new and exciting to hear!! Bar staff had not poured the inverval drink so would have been quicker to buy at the interval.
Home of New York Philharmonic and lots of Lincoln center performance . The program performed here are audience focused and well designed to educate . Down to earth design for a pure taste of music .

Awesome space. Take a minute to notice how the noise of the main lobby is dampened when you reach the next floor, the mainentrance of the theater . Take a sec to appreciate the period wood paneling .

The seats have ample leg room but are squeezed together from left to right more snugly than most theaters .
If you can, go see a rehearsal performance on most Thursday mornings throughout the season for only $18!

A real piece of history here. Not many bad seats ... stay away from first few orchestra rows and you'll be fine. Check out the plaza .

Weill Hall is a smaller, more intimate venue with great acoustics. It was perfect for a piano recital by Hyeyoung Song that I just enjoyed there. - Mike Chung
