Lady Liberty , you have seen her in many pictures but, up close and personal is different and better. Get a ticket to climb right up to the Crown , 377 steps but, oh man does the view look spectacular!
This place is awesome. Great up close views of the statue and and panorama views of Manhattan. Make sure to get tickets to the pedestal or crown in advance of your trip.

Definitely a must do in NYC! Book a tour with a ferry cruise to liberty island and ellis island !!! The whole tour takes time but it's very interesting with the audio guides!
Plan to spend most of your day if you want to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island . Ferries to these islands are packed in high season so waiting to get on or off the boat takes 1/2 hour each.

you should definitely take the boat and have this one hour tour . see manhattan, Statue of Liberty, Manhattan and Brooklyn bridge . tip: pick the right side of the boat (starboard) for better view !
Take the Staten Island Ferry which is free. It leaves ever half an hour and you can visit Staten Island as well . The Free ferry is located to the left of Battery Gardens Restaurant .

Awesome and awe inspiring. Go with guided tour through Expedia, much better experience. Only 4,000 per day allowed on island and 400 up to pedestal. Tons of stairs.
A fun few hours, though if you're short on time whilst in New York, you might be better not giving up half your day to climb this. Offers a break from the skyscrapers however.
If you are in NYC for longer than a week, go visit the statue . Otherwise it will take you plenty of time that you can spend doing loads of cool things in the city .
I did imagine her to be bigger, but it's worth it! Take the very first boat to Liberty Island to avoid big lines . That way you can be done with both islands before noon.
Have small bills to rent a locker if you are going up to the crown . It was $2 today and secured by a finger scan. No bags allowed and the162 stairs up are narrow. It is worth the effort.

The island gets jammed packed during the weekends. Nice park with plenty of benches and grass to sit relax take some pictures of the New York City skyline.

Please, please purchase your tickets ahead of time, speciallly if your on a time crunch. We had our tickets and if we wouldn't of.had them, there was a wait in line of 4 hours!!
Do the free Park Ranger tour , especially if you're not going up into the pedestal or crown . You'll learn lots of great trivia in a half an hour
No need to get a boat onto the island , just get the Staten Island ferry past the statue . You still get a great view and great photos
Don't underestimate the size of Lady Liberty , she is true giant. Booked early to see inside her, the original torch is a must see.

If you want to visit the crown , you still have to make reservations weeks in advance . Order together with the Statue Cruises online, and you'll skip the queues at Battery Park too.

If you’re interested in going up the statue make sure you buy the appropriate ticket, the grounds ticket won’t be enough to get you in.
Be prepared to rent a locker to store purses etc. Only camera & water allowed. Will go through security again! Be prepared to hike up the tight & narrow spiral staircase. It's totally worth it!!!
Unless you have tickets for the crown booked in advance you are fine by just taking the boat in and out to take the photo. Nothing much else to see on the island to be honest.

Noncrowded month to visit: mid april. Noncrowded time to visit: morning/before noon. Also they have tight security check here so wear something you can take off easily. ????
