Built into the ruins of what was once the world’s largest flour mill, Mill City Museum is located on the historic Mississippi Riverfront. Here, visitors of all ages learn about the intertwined histories of the flour industry, the river, and the city of Minneapolis.

Completed in 1880, the Washburn A Mill was declared the world's largest flour mill . It was nearly destroyed by fire in 1991, and after the city cleaned the rubble, it was converted into this museum .
The History Society did a great job adding to the ruins and building the museum . The Flour Tower tour is very original. And you must take a ride in the glass elevator .
Did you know? At one time, the mill was the largest and most technologically advanced in the world - at its peak it could grind enough flour for 12 million loaves of bread in a day. Read more

Not what you'd expect. This should be the first place you go if it's your first time in Minn. Their tour is phenomenal and their staff has a plethora of knowledge . A perfect slice of Americana.

Ask for the National Parks Passport stamp at the gift shop desk. Ask for the second (old) one, too, if they don't get it out. And if you don't already collect National Park stamps, by all means start!
This museum is one of my most favorites in Minnesota. It’s a great learning opportunity AND fun for all families. It’s very beautiful outside, as well .

Great museum , but very surprised and disappointed not to see any flour sack replicas in the gift shop of a museum about flour milling . Maybe I'm missing something.

Learn some history you may never have known about. Flour tour gets you a great view of the Stone Arch Bridge and the falls.

The flour tower is a sweet freight elevator ride with snippets of history. To top it off a view of the falls, and stone arch bridge from the 9th floor.
Highly recommend a walking tour from them.

Check out the Sat morning farmers market , Mill City Ruins, and Guthrie's "Bridge to Nowhere." Then walk across the Stone Arch Bridge to St. Anthony Main. Awesome views .
